Foden belonged to a cousin of mine When new 24T, gross, He lengthened the wheelbase & got it up to 28T, Giving a payload of 19T, it had a 180 It had the 180 Gardner in it & performed wery well.Regards Larry.

Bang on with the weight Larry. William Powell & Son had a brand new ERF eight wheeler with a bulk tipping body in 1968. That was 24 ton gross and carried 15 ton with a Gardner 150. They later on had two new six wheeled ERF’s at 22 ton gross. Times have changed,they are now struggling to get 20 ton on eight wheeler tippers at 32 ton gross.
Bring back the Foden’s ad ERF’s.

Hi, Folks , We ran loads of Fodens all types and models the best in my mind was the S 40 they were roomy comfy warm even with the Gardners only problem was the tin worm . Cheers Barry

Hello Barry, i can remember those Fodens with steel cabs hauling paper reels , lovely old machines they were , must have been out of Oaken holt mills . forresters of Whixhall ran some as well thank you Trevor
