Fancy a holiday

I like NI, been here 8 years myself. English. I’ve good friends from both sides of the community. Just avoid marching season as the traffic can be a pain with road closures. You really do know when you’re in a bad area, there’s flags of one variety or t’other and murals. You’d really have to be determined to walk into these places.

People are very welcoming to visitors. Great scenery around here. Central Belfast is friendly on a night out. Breath of fresh air. No big drunken swathes of people wandering the street looking for trouble like in England. Rains A LOT though. I feel far far safer in Belfast than in any big English city. People are believe it or not less combatative in their attitude than you’d find in Manchester on a night out. PSNI get a lot of stick from some but compared to the Brit Police they are pretty good, theres loads of them, they carry big arse guns so no one back chats them and they don’t put up with the crap that goes on say in Portsmouth on a Sat.

Killarney, Trallee, nex month (August), you cant go wrong for your requirements.

Can’t believe there’s so much support for what has to be a completely ignorant question.

People get lambasted for asking a genuine question but maybe in a silly way on this site.

You ask a stupid question in a serious way and nobody says nothing.

I would go a far to say that statistically you would be safer in Northern Ireland than most places in Mainland. Why would you want to believe the likes of me, just continue thinking that it’s 1982 and there out to get you.

There about the same but the police or psni are better than the police In the mainland

Arl meck one if you go to amsterdam or prague young al,

Scotlands a very nice place too

I had my car broken into at 4am. The peelers turned up within 5 minutes. They were gutted it had happened as they said they’d been up and down that area 3/4 times. It was prob kids trying to nick it as its an ancient car. I was in my work uniform and on the phone to work saying I’d be late. The PSNI stepped in and offered to drop me at the airport. I joked with them saying when they dropped me off in front of the passengers that they should get out and say “next time don’t be drinking so much!” True to their word they dropped me off right outside the terminal and this big bruiser with a machine gun got out and shook my hand?! Occasionally there’s road blocks and they pull you over, they’re always dead on and friendly. I saw one pull a taxi over for a blown bulb. I was walking past and he just said to the guy to make sure he got it fixed. I think they’re quite old fashioned. If you’re a thug and back chat them in Ballymena on Friday night like you see on those reality police shows, they’d take you round the back and just give you a good slap. Unlike English Police I have had good experiences of what NI has.

What about getting a bike and go youth hostelling. You dont have to be young to do it.I remember that lots of places dont really want to cater for a party of one.

my aunties got a static caravan a reighton gap humberside ,no pets allowed

They are a lot better now I mind when I was younger I was always talking to them and they give me a lift to the police station alot

I use Travel supermarket.com to book flights and hotels.Or book seperatly buy booking direct with the hotel with the best price.
Or Hostel bookers.com for cheap accomodation around the world.
Sharing a dormitory with four to twelve tourists or have a room alone.
For Lisbon,Caparica and Setubal are decent beaches over the river.
Cascais and Estoril are quite unique places.
Praia de Guincho around the coastline with stunning scenery.
The Porto area has the Trans Montania region of Braganza,Braga and Guimaraes.
Step back in time in the villages and cobbled streets.
There are many natural parks to explore.

In Porto explore the 16th century port cellars and factory tours. There is coach service that links Lisbon and Porto.Or hire a car.

St Ives in Cornwall is great. Wide open Atlantic Ocean. Lively local music scene. Downside is time of year it’ll be expensive on accommodation. What about Whitby? My suggestions haven’t been very international. I just like our own lands quite a lot. I personally think the UK is the most beautiful place on earth you’ve just got to know where to look . I liked Zermatt in Switzerland. Happening little place but maybe dead outside of ski season.

A question for the international guys and gals, I’m wanting a holiday things are getting on top of me and fancy a week away. I’ll be on my own don’t really fancy a busy city looking for something more relaxed and quiet. A decent town with things to do or go and see and must have a good night life pubs bars live bands etc not interested in clubbing, some countryside and or mountains not too far away to wander around during the day would be a bonus too. Long shot I know but just trying to pick your brains and any suggestions will be appreciated.
Looking at end of August or beginning of September

Thanks

Most of these W boys I see nowerdays are on holiday all the time

I have a good idea just get in your car and drive and see were you end up

Is the correct answer! Jump in your jalopy, look for the squiggly lines leading to the coast and just go.

Why do you call him a troll anyway

If you have a bike already, get over to France/Belgium etc and do a tour of the “World War” heritage sites. Lots to choose from.
Alternatively, get over to Roskilde in Denmark and visit the Viking Ship Museum. They’ll let you have a go at some woodwork if you fancy it.
Or combine the two.
If you don’t have a bike licence, get one and do it next year.

viking7000:
Waterford. You have the seaside resort of Tramore, the Commeragh mountains. Mount Congreve world renown gardens and an airport. All within 30mins from town. Or how about Salou in Spain. Cheap and hire a big quad for the day and head into the mountains. Amazing.

+1 but bloody expensive to fly into Waterford

The ring of Kerry, Kenmare in particular.

Don’t mean to sound stupid here but is it ok for English to take holidays in Northern Ireland? I don’t know much about the troubles and not trying to start an argument

‘Is it ok for the English to take holidays in Northern Ireland,’

Thousands do each year and and seem to get home in 1 piece. Are you really that stupid, why don’t you you come find out for yourself.

Or do you only feel safe in England surrounded by foreigners.

Clown

& you’ve just reinforced why some blokes including me wouldn’t go there.
