Maybe Carl was a stalwart in ELP as Bev Bevan was the long time tub-thumper for ELO.
Either way, since both bands have given loads, both are due much respect - not least for a lot of them remaining in the UK.

Some of the surviving members of the Dam Busters, picked them up from their hotel and took them to RAF Fairford to meet the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, could have listened to their stories all day. Also at Fairford.
Douglas Bader.
Cats eyes Cunningham.
Chuck Yeager.
Neil Armstrong.Oh

Yes Pudsey is a great hero of mine…
However on the subject …
I was fortunate enough a few years ago at Duxford, to meet and talk to Muriel Pavlow who played the part of Bader’s wife Thelma in Reach For The Sky, (She’s now 88.) after she had just done a Q&A session, and also Cyril Bamberger DFC and Bar, AE and Bar who was a WW2 Spitfire ace, (And like Bader, a REAL hero.) and sadly passed away on the 5/2/2008.
Ken.
I knew it. As soon as i posted i bloody knew it.
One of our drivers, well, until last year, told us he used to play in a band.
Turns out the band was Nazareth and Billy Rankin was the guitarist.Went home and googled him and sure enough, there he was on youtube with the band strumming away. He`s now the breakfast DJ on Rock Radio in Glasgow.
Bet hes glad he
s not a trolley dolly anymore!!
Reg Varney, ‘Crackerjack’ Crowther & Joe Bugner as a kid. I mooned a car with the Hong Kong Governer’s plate as pillion on a mates motorbike in 1984 - around the same time I baggsed the flying suit that Miss World wore after she passed it to me after having a jolly in a military helicopter on a very humid summer’s day. Deep joy - but it got taken off me by a bigger boy…
Also re’ ‘world’: Both Bobby Moore & Geoff Hurst (autographs collected from '71 & '67 respectively) - and went to school with Martin Peters cousin. So it’s ‘Come on You Irons’, ‘We won the World Cup’ and ‘I love you, Miss World’ from me.
I usually leave today’s celebs alone or try to just wink if I see any these days, although I bowed extensively when eye-to-eye with The Queen during Her Golden Jubilee celebration in St. Pauls: The lady has an awesome presence.
