Fake cops warning

Theres been a report into the office this morning
There’s someone in the Doncaster/blyth area on the A1 going around in a car with fake red & blue lights trying to stop drivers

Lots of Booze & Goodies on the wagons at the moment, be careful out there Boys & Girls.

Always gets me thinking ? Why do people like Carlsberg, Bargain Booze, John Smiths- etc, advertise in great big letters on the side of their wagons.

LOOK THIEVING SCUMBAGS, I’M LOADED WITH GOODIES !

Because the free advertising probably outweighs the cost of the odd pinched load. The pinched load will come out the hauliers insurance anyway so no cost at all to the drink company.

Yea I know that, but its still an invitation for the Scumbags. (& we all ultimately pay for the insurance !)

Police in UK use blue lights so if you see red and blue ignore it.

Update:
I was actually in the traffic office at the start of my shift when the driver phoned in, initially I though he’d had an accident. But as the call to the shift manager progressed it became obvious that someone in a white car with blue/red lights in the windscreen had tried to stop him in the dark while on the S/B exit slip at Blyth. He refused to stop (in accordance with company policy on this) then he called the cops 999 who confirmed it wasn’t 1 of theirs

for the last 5 years police in the uk have been using blue too stop and once stopped they use alternate flashing red lights, recently unmarked cars operating on the m1 have red and blue alternate flashing lights in the rear windows and blue flashing forward

when im out for a run on my bike, and im sittting at 7000 rpm i sometimes see blue flashing lights in my rearview mirror, but if i drop a gear or 2 and do 11000 rpm for a while then they vanish, strange or what■■? … looks like you save a predictable kidnap and beating by ignoring the blues and twos…i wonder how you argue the point about phoning the cops en route driving down the road telling them your still driving and hadnt stopped though ?

Don’t stop unless of course you have been involved in an accident and just ring Police whilst keeping moving using cab phone…if it is an unmarked car and you don’t stop then you’ll know within minutes if it’s real as you’ll have a marked car on scene.

Also even unmarked cars have additional wing mirrors above the normal ones so another thing to look for when identifying them. Their also must be at least one person in the car wearing police uniform.

Early morning…nothing on the road and an unmarked car wouldn’t get me to stop.

Basic rule is if not 100 percent sure car is a real Unmarked Police Car do not stop…particularly if for any reason due to intrinsic load or isolated area that you feel vulnerable.

Hands free phoning, although frowned upon, isn’t illegal is it?

From what I’ve seen neither is using your old Nokia phone whilst wearing it on either your shoulder or left breast pocket:)

EH?

A few years ago, some impersonator in N.Y. kitted himself out with a full badged uniform, vehicle etc., and even reconstructed his own “police station” with a door plaque and all the bogus interior props. Even used to cuff his perps to a chair for interrogation!

I think he was more of a wannabe nutjob than a crim though. Don`t recall him profiting from it or harming anyone.

Wayne next time you see a Motorway Patrol Car check out the passenger wing mirror…you’ll see an extra one fitted (smaller than normal)…gives passenger same view as driver:)

Four men who posed as police officers and handcuffed victims while ransacking their properties have been jailed.

In March and April last year, homes and jewellers in Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire and Lancashire were targeted.

Richard Clancy, Connor Macphee, Mark Worthington-Breen, all of Salford, and Matthew Cheston, of Warrington, admitted offences including conspiracy to rob and conspiracy to kidnap.

All were sentenced earlier at Manchester Crown Court.

Greater Manchester Police said the “convincing” gang used body armour, handcuffs, police hats, two-way radios and fake warrant cards to pose as policemen.

Victims were approached and told there was a warrant for their arrest. They were then restrained by handcuffs or cable ties while cash and jewellery were taken.

‘Lucrative conspiracy’

Clancy, 27, was sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison. Macphee, 20, who also admitted weapons offences, was jailed for nine years.

Worthington-Breen, 22, who also admitted arson with intent to endanger life, was jailed for 11 and a half years.

Cheston, 31, who also admitted two burglary charges, was given a 12-year sentence.

Det Insp Alan Robertson said: "These men went to great lengths to obtain fake police uniforms and warrant cards.

“When they knocked on their victims’ doors, they were so convincing those they targeted genuinely believed they were in trouble and the police had come to arrest them.”

Elisa Hopley, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "The defendants were involved in a highly organised, violent and lucrative conspiracy.

“I would like to thank the victims who have shown great courage in coming forward and supporting the prosecution case.”

then see who would get the blame if you had a wee shunt at the time…even if you were to shunt the tea leafs out of the way.

No and neither’s using a hand held one if you’re making an emergency call and it’s unsafe to stop. Would this scenario constitute an emergency though?
