‘Speed kills’ brainwashed into them and a different interpretation of the ‘rules’ and exploring the grey areas automatically makes for a bad driver

Speed doesn’t kill, idiots driving fast kill, idiots driving slow kill, idiots maintaining the speed limits religiously kill, think we have a common theme appearing here!

The point is speed is only a factor if you were doing the wrong speed for that given situation.

So according to your philosophy everybody else on the road is an idiot and they all kill other people. Having witnessed driving in South Wales I accept that it has more than it’s fair share of idiots but they don’t all kill. Some of them reach their destination without any serious incidents. This is mainly because other people take appropriate avoiding action.

Not a case of everyone else on the roads are killers but self preservation and safety …treat everyone else on the road as an unpredictable idiot and you wont go far wrong…

Just to add to the mix.

Some would say drivers that speed are idiots while others would say they are idiots for holding them up.

While some might say that they are safe to speed and some would think they are idiots for doing that.

Bottom line is there are more idiots on our roads than ever before and most are an accident waiting to happen but in their eyes they are the best drivers on the roads.

My take on the speed and idiots thing…
Speed does not kill, it’s inappropriate speed that kills,.and not adapting your speed to various situations.

Idiots? …the ones who drive their trucks as they would drive their cars, and not realising that there should be a big difference in style between the two.

It’s already like that over here… Drink driving five times higher fines and lower alcohol limit, it doesn’t matter if you are stopped in your car for drink driving, if you hold a truck licence you should have a lower level and the fine is higher. Using a phone while driving ? The fine for driving a car is $250.00, the fine if driving a truck is $2,750.00 and 20 CSA points on your DOT record.

An old farmer chap John Kirk, pronounced CORK, who used our local pub said, “as you know, I don’t drive, but as far as I can see, any silly ZB can get that speed, it takes a good man to get shut of it.”

There’s some good men in that churchyard who tried to prove otherwise. [emoji14]

You are only a professional driver when you are stood facing a magistrate!

Sorry but I do not know quite what you are trying to say?

Not sure what it is you’re struggling with, I thought I’d given my opinion as clearly as I could make it.

That is not what I said at all please re-read it, and also why the cheap dig at South Wales? What relevance has that to this discussion?

You state that those driving fast, slowly and obeying the speed limit kill, that doesn’t leave a lot other than the stationery ones.

Interesting that you selectively left the one word out of that which was the whole point I was trying to make ‘Idiots’

I stated… IDIOTS driving fast, IDIOTS driving slow, and yes even IDIOTS obeying the speed limits cause crashes (the killing bit was pertinent to my original comment but killing is not necessarily the whole point of this reply), in fact I’ll simplify it as much as I possibly can for you, IDIOTS (or people even momentarily acting like idiots) are invariably the ones who cause accidents, my point is speed is not the main cause or factor behind an accident an IDIOT more often than not IS!

Speed is a sometimes a contributory factor whether high or low. I have been overtaken by learner drivers whilst driving at the speed limit and watching some driving instructors perform it is not surprising that the standard of driving is as bad as it is.

i dont believe for one minute speed is the cause of RTC’s (ill leave the word ‘accident’ out of it as theres no such thing), its hazard perception that’ll keep you out of trouble, problem is there are many out there who wouldnt even have a clue what its about…

Isn’t that about reading the road ahead and taking action accordingly?
