I always thought you were much smarter than that comment Luke. I am posting as any other poster with regards to not knowing as much about the highway code as I thought I knew. Been a few years since I last read that bible.

Stop it. Just stop it. Just when I start to accept that you are real, and know as much as you told us, you ruin it all…

Now what am I to believe? ■■?

Sometimes Dr Damon, the nodding donkey throws in the odd gem that even makes me smile at times

I’m at least smart enough to carry a copy of the highway code in my work bag. Try it, it’s actually quite cheap. As for smart generally, no not really, I’m just a good bulls***ter so don’t get your hopes up

Well whatever you think of me or whoever you think I am, I cannot agree with your comment that your a good bulls***ter, you are like Juddian, your professionalism and intelligence shines through like a beacon to me. I am going to get a highway code tomorrow, I just didn’t realise I needed it.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Surely any so called professional driver would know toeing vehicles have a 10mph lower speed limit on a national speed limit road?

The same as vans do unless it is a car derived van, and car derived means there is a car that the van is the basis of. So even a lot of small van drivers incorrectly think it is based on the weight of the vehicle which it isn’t.

A Ford Transit connect for example, people will think it is the same limits as a car but it isn’t as there is no car version of the connect. Corsa van fiesta van et al would be fine as it is derived from a car.

Come on Tramp a man of your talents should have known this surely?

As an aside when I did my speed awareness course a lot of the drivers though the 40mph for trucks was still in force on single carriageway roads, and were surprised to learn it was now 50mph. And when asked why the speed was upped I was the only one to know the answer. To stop muppet car drivers overtaking dangerously to get past slow vehicles, they all seemed genuinely shocked the limit was raised for a truck for their own safety and the risk of increased speed for tucks vs the increased danger of cars overtaking dangerously meant the limit was increased.

I actually enjoyed the course a bit, it makes you realise how much you forget after passing a test and also thought you a couple of things you didn’t know.

Everyday is a learning day after all no matter how long you have been driving.

Not in Scotland it isn’t.

Why do you have to try to cause trouble all of the time, can you not just add to the post without your unfounded comments. The thread is regards the highway code, have you anything to say on this subject? I cannot answer Dr Damon without being accused of being him and talking to myself which is ridiculous. This is from your rumours that this has happened. I personally like Dr Damons posts and genuinely believe he is something to do with autonomous vehicles which I am interested in myself. So why wouldn’t I answer or agree with him?

Better brush up simcor as your first sentence is not quite correct!
Your last sentence however is spot on and a lot of drivers would benefit from realising this.

I don’t need to brush up I know the law on speeds thanks. But as I’m only human and have worded it incorrectly I obviously don’t know.
Towing vehicles and non car derived vans have lower speed limits of 50 in a 60 60 in a 70 limit. Any limit lower than 60 mph normal speed limits apply. Is that better for you?

The fact is the majority of vans drivers have no clue about the lower speed limits and very rarely get pulled for it. For driving with the flow of the traffic the same as most hgvs never got pulled before the limit was upped to 50mph on single carriageways roads.

Sat here with my ‘combined offer’ before me, problem is you have 28 days from the date of notice to notify your intentions … now 34 so off to court I have to go … :frowning: (maybe I can give the excuse that there are no letter boxes at sea :bulb: )

Try logging into the offer site and you get lucky and it’s still available. I got told that there is a week or so lag before it catches up

Treading on thin ice there fella. Apart from a couple of dopes on here the Scots have a lot going for them especially compared to other parts of the UK.

I rang them after leaving my offer without answering it after the time ran out, They put me back the offer but I had to pay them there and then on the phone. Try it you will be surprised. Make an excuse that you was away and you are more likely to getthem to re offer you the course.

Was on my speeding awareness course today, 4 hrs of looking at my watch for most of it. Then the only interesting part of it was a questionnaire about speed limits. Easy I thought, Iv’e got this. Well how embarrassing, I got every question wrong with regards a car pulling a caravan, well I don’t have a caravan or a car trailer so assumed normal speed limits would be appropriate. 30. 60, 70 mph sounded right to me. Just shows really how much of the highway code I didn’t really know and it wasn’t just me either. We get so hung up over driver hours, WTD etc, etc. You forget the other stuff about car driving. I daresay there will be a few on here who would get them wrong too!!

And a lot of people towing on a car licence seem to have forgotten/ignorant that they’re not allowed in the outside lane of a motorway :unamused: .

I was the same with the ‘safe urban driving’ course. Mainly cos it had something to do with FORS,I went thinking it’ll be a waste of 7 hours of my life. It turned out I learnt some stuff

Mine was 4 hrs, 8.30am to 12.30pm. I learned a few things too, so not a total waste of time.

7.5 tonners, coaches rigids and artics can be added to that list quite easily lol

Had 2 trucks overtake me in roadworks in the 4th lane last night on M25, always in a rush to get a few vehicles ahead, sad really, then they will be the first to moan if they get caught doing it.

Juddian:
Er well i suppose if you were going to tow a caravan with a certain vehicle, you’d brush up on the regs.

As it is you drive a car presumably when not at work and a lorry when you are at work, so what the hell point is there in spending time learning what speed limit applies to a car/caravan a milk float or a bloody pedestrian pushed lawn mower, when you have no intention of driving any of them, it’s utterly pointless.

If you wanted to be a copper you’d have joined the old bill, then you could move onto traffic (and be as popular as a dose of the clap with real coppers) and impress your captive audience.

I agree, I have no reason to know bus rules or towing a caravan, so never really gave it a second thought. Not something that concerns me, I only know and concern myself with what is relevant to me.

Get a bloody grip man.

It’s a bit of humour regarding the lack of keeping in line with the new speed limit for trucks.

Captain Caveman 76:
Suppose so, it’s easy to miss the fact you’re on an urban dual carriageway.

Yes actually it was an easy mistake to make when the dual carriageway goes from 40 to 30 mph, The first repeater sign was covered by trees and the police speed trap got me. A complete lack of concentration was all it was. No scene made or spitting my dummy out over it. Human error.

any minute now, someone who takes the post as non fiction will try to be helpful and point out that how brainy would you need to be to take photographs of the obscured repeater sign to dispute the prosecution and have the speeding dropped…laws of average mean that there has to be someone on here.
alter egos and multiple accounts obviously not included.

Good point obviously I forgot to mention that but as always people should know that information. I was referring to single and dual carriageways for the restrictions.

But I’ll give you that one. [emoji23]
