A Bewick F88 ready to exit the Bowater Scott mill in Barrow-in-Furness circa '76 with a trailer loaded for their West Thurrock RDC.The trailer will have been returned to the depot at Milnthorpe for the night trunk to Daventry.

Hi all,

Well, the cab is now stripped out ready for paint removal, protection and repainting. Can anyone help with the following bits - little rubber seal for inside of the fuel filler cap, rubber window rubber seals (front, side and rear), door seals, front grille (chrome - condition of chrome not important but grille and surropunds to be reasonably undamaged) and for the rear of the cab an early 240 air stack. If any one got any other F88 cab interior bits they wanna make a couple of quid on for Christmas, please let me know by PM.

Thanks

H

We used to load re-bar out of Sheerness steel Johnnie.Dennis.

It was so hot when it was loaded it used to burn the bearers, the sheets had to be put on a board.

You had to wait for it to cool down before you could rope it up.

I remember trying to get reverse gear when i was parked on a steep right hand camber .and the only way it went in was to rock the cab from inside.did anyone else have that problem

i had the same problem but on an f89 ! seemed to be when the gearbox was cold , with it being a lefty reverse was towards you and back and it felt like you had run out of space to move the stick if you get my drift… very annoying…

HAHA,i remember that, I always got told to take a skid with you and put it under o/s/f wheel when you park up> Worked everytime for me…
