it is a requirement if you want to run under ATP as i understand it

Don’t know if it’s actually a legal requirement but most customers/logistics firms in France want to see an up to date FRC, guaranteeing your reefer body is up to spec. Our firm won’t use any subby who hasn’t got a valid FRC certificate.
Incidentally a pair of FRC letters on the top side of a fridge mean it’s a dual temp body, with a partition inside.

ATP is definitely a legal requirement ! All new fridges come with a 6 year cert and it’s not expensive to get them renewed. But I can honestly say I have never been checked anywhere. Yeh I know the year is on the fridge but we do occasionally have to risk an old fridge when busy and it has never been a problem. And that includes France !!

You’d know about it if you had a claim with a load of soft fruit going off, it’s the first thing your GIT insureres would be asking for, no cert’ no pay out!!!

Not my risk to be honest.
99% of our trailers are less than six yrs old so it’s not an issue. But the point I was making is that I’ve never been asked or checked. But as I say, as a driver I’m not overly concerned.

I have been checked, doing revision at Sagunto and they asked for ATP docs, luckily we had one in our folder and lucky for me they were more concerned with the trailer than the load, because as usual I only had two pallets on the arse end, the rest was still on the trees

Sagunto!! That brings back memories, went there plenty but more often than not I’d be too late so it’d be Silla for evening revision, or tramp up to Villamaya (spelling) for the crowded morning session!!

The lateness was the reason for only having two pallets on the arse, by the time I got back to the packhouse it was not long before I was loaded and up the road again, those that went up to Villamaya (sp) weren’t even dreaming about their cornflakes by the time I got into France
hi does anyone know what F.R.I.C IS AND HOW TO OBTAIN DOCS 4 THIS
THANX
No idea mate.
I tried a search in Google, but that didn’t come up with anything which looked useful, to do with trucks.
Can you give us a bit more detail? Like, what country is it in connection with? Does it have any connection with trucks or truck driving? If not, what is it in connection with?
Welcome to TruckNet UK by the way.
Try to avoid using capitals, on forums and chat rooms, it is looked on as shouting.
Are you sure you don`t mean F.L.I.C.?
Not 100% certain but i think it is Fast Lane Inland Clearance or Forward Inland Clearance.
for customs purposes it allowed you to enter the country and drive direct to the client and the load was clearing customs whils en-route,saved you hanging about at port of entry.
I think it’s something to do with refrigerated vehicles and a certificate.
You usually see it on the side of fridge vehicles with an expiry date.
It sounds like the letters that these estate agent types use to increase their self impotence.
But a related theme, what does the D in a green box actually stand for on a fridge or tank
i posted all these on the old forums cos i asked for a list from the IRU which explained them but can the hell i find it now - think it was milk products, or was than an “a” will keep looking anyway

I might be wrong, but the “D” is an Italian symbol for thin wall reefers, it goes back to the “80s”, when the thin walls became the norm, so pallets could go on easier side by side, instead of the constant rubbing and eventual punchure of the side walls. [this then buggers up the reefer]
FRIC is also for reefers, I have not got my “croners” with me, but they detail all the symbols and letters in their directory.
I have been pulling a tank recently with the D on it, It is possible that it means something to do with Da Italian milk runs through Austria.
Is FRIC something like “federation regulation international conseillee” or something like that
As far as I know the green square with the black ‘D’ stands for Domenica and means the vehicle is exempt from Sunday driving bans.
