No they want extra because the tube workers got more .100% agree with them if tube workers get it they should.
No one should have got it in the first place.

Exactly no one should have got it
Tube drivers are getting it as their shifts will be altered with earlier starts, later finishes, longer shifts and extra trains running. To my knowledge no extra buses are running nor are there any changes to shift patterns.

The problem is its not easy to replace train drivers and in the case of the tube they are essential for London. You can’t even quickly replace them with other train drivers.
I agree, no one should get extra for doing a normal days work, ok so theres more people, but a vehicle can only carry a certain amount, and once your full up, off you go, no extra work involved in that.
One of the arguments i heard on radio about it was the fact the companies will get extra revenue, so the unions said that the staff deserved to have a share, what a load of old nonsense…pure greed, i hope the bus companies call their bluff and not give in, who will the losers be in the end…the drivers.

I’ve registered with a company as a stand by driver for the olympics, it’ll be a good hourly rate and accom provided, will only get the call if the gvt call the bus drivers bluff.
They’re getting drivers registered just in case, so I think they’re thinking about it.
I’ll tread on the greedy gits toes no probs.
Greedy ■■■■■■■ if you dont wana donit you know where the doornis now ■■■■ off!!!

That’s what the Nottinghamshire miners said.
Or was it ■■■■ you I’m alright Jack?
No wonder the only thing keeping the country’s economy going is the trillions in taxes paid by the gambling banksters.
If the Nottinghamshire miners hadn’t broke the labour movement we wouldn’t have millions on the dole due to a devastated manufacturing industry, we wouldn’t be importing 90% of what we use from China, we wouldn’t be over £1.5 trillion in debt.
It’s all your fault fault Wayne, you should be ashamed.
What the strikers have been doing is blocking bus garage entrances. Very few buses leave the depot so it’s not that easy. In any case I thought you would need a category D on your licence and that C+E wouldn’t he enough ?

Why not?
There’ll be millions of extra people floating around London during the Olympics. Many of whom will be using the bus services. The drivers will have to cope with the extra traffic, stop to pick up more passengers more often, all of whom will need to be paying for tickets, all of which will mean extra work for the drivers.
The bus company will be taking literally £millions more in profits at no extra cost to themselves.
Why shouldn’t the drivers take a share of that?
MY god, the “working classes” sure have been brainwashed by multi-national corporations that own our national media since these days.
Bus companies won’t be making anymore money during the olympics, TFL will.
I’m a london bus driver and dont agree with getting extra, however, if the tube/train drivers are getting it, then so should we, after all, we deal with the public face to face.
This is the reason this country is in the ■■■■. Because of this attitude, well if they have it then why shouldnt I? Why do you think so many people are on the dole? If they are getting money for nothing why shouldnt i? Makes me sick!

Why thanks, nice to know I’ve made a difference in my short time on the planet
Like I said, an hour is 60 minutes no matter what you’re doing, for every hour worked you get paid an agreed rate, this is agreed based on your work ie. drive a bus between point a and point b.
When the busses are quiet, do the drivers say "just give us minimum wage gov… " do they buggery.
London busses do not deal with tickets, they’re dealt with at the bus stop, so literally it’s a case of stop and go and open and close doors, all at a more leisurely (slower) pace than at a time when the olympics isn’t on.
In Manchester, we dealt with the Commonwealth games in 2002 with no bonus’ and no problems, and we DID have to issue and deal with the tickets.

Thanks for knowing that I’m C+E, no idea how you knew that, but I had my manual D licence for 7yrs before I touched a HGV
Well thats good you have ‘D’ entitlement but you’d need hundreds more! How many of you are there ?

Spot on, but try and find someone who remembers they’re working class anymore, doncha know that everyone’s middle class now…
Too many people who work for a living don’t know which pot they are ■■■■■■■ in any more.
The way I see it, ALL professional drivers during the Olympic period nationwide have one of the following options:
(1) Work extra for the same pay (for fearful full timers with defective unions)
(2) Work extra for extra pay (for full timers with effective unions)
(3) Work extra for less pay (for full timers with low IQ’s)
(4) Work the same for the same pay (outside london) (A valid excuse for employer’s not to bother letting the Olympics making a difference!)
(5) don’t work at all for no pay - because all the work dried up (A risk outside London if all the plumb contracts end up with the inner London firms)
(6) don’t work at all for the same pay (be on holiday) (Full time drivers with families preferred option)
(7) go sick for the same pay (if full time) (Wouldn’t advise it unless you have weak management!)
(8) Pretend the Olympic period is January, and sit it out. (Option for Agency drivers with families)
(9) Be on strike for no pay (See [3])
(10) Threaten to strike, but on the day work normally (see [3] and [1])
Can anyone else add some extra options I’ve not thought of?

Wrong, we do deal with tickets.

Agree 100%.

A packed bus is hard work, alot more concentration required.
When the tube drivers strike(every bloody year, at least) the buses carry the brunt of it.
I don’t think anyone should get a bonus for driving during the olympics, but, as soon as TFL gave into the tube drivers, they opened the flood gates…
Tube drivers are a rare breed, not easily replaced and backed by an effective union. Bus (and Truck) drivers are ten a penny and if the ones you have don’t like the taste of the ■■■■ you feed them there are ten for every one that will, and another ten that will do the job for less as long as you let them put spotlights on the truck.
