I dont blame the london bus drivers, as others have said if the tube drivers can get a raise why cant they. Doesnt matter whether there is one passenger or a thousand on a tube train, the driver is still behind closed doors out of the way - doesnt make any difference. At least the bus drivers have at least a slightly legitimate claim that they will be under extra pressure.
About time tube trains were driven by computers, the drivers take the ■■■■.
For the record, being anti-olympics i hope the bus drivers strike during the event just to screw it all up Meanwhile i will be oblivious to it up north and out of the way of it all
hotel bookings are DOWN 30% during the Olympics from what they were last year when nothing was on

On the tube, three lines are already automatically driven with the ‘drivers’ only opening/closing doors.
Tube and train drivers are getting a bonus because shifts are being altered - earlier starts, later finishes and longer turn and additional services. In order for all this to go on without a hitch and to encourage people to work their days off (you can’t force them to) a bonus is a good incentive.
It does make a difference if the train is full. Platforms may be rammed to the point where crawling into stations becomes necessary, doors don’t close because the thing is too packed and people often get taken ill. An even worse prospect is breaking down or getting stuck in between stations with a packed train for whatever reason.
Yes of course bus drivers will have it hard. I know - I was a London bus driver for 6 years. At that time I had tickets as there was no oyster and there were zonal fares. I moved onto coach driving which i still do on a semi-regular basis. Mistakes aren’t tolerated on the trains Even approaching a red signal too fast could get you relieved of duty if you trip the overspeed! Braking correctly is critical in something that weighs several hundred tons too!

that will be because they jacked the rates up especially for the Olympics
ordinary tourists are staying home !
Spain can’t afford the Euro 2012 celebrations either, from what I’ve been hearing. Talk about racing to the bottom! Obviously, I can’t know if Italy might have even ducked it, bearing in mind a 4-0 thrashing in the final is not what most people would have expected between them.
This Olympics may well turn out to be the biggest washout for a century, BECAUSE no one normal can afford it. BECAUSE of all the ill feeling. BECAUSE no crumbs seem to be falling off the high table for ordinary people.
Even direct families of contestants can’t afford the tickets - since they are not getting anything free here either it seems.
No prizes for which of the above multi-coloured options appeals to yours truly the most at this moment in time!

This is the reason this country is in the [zb]. Because of this attitude, well if they have it then why shouldnt I? Why do you think so many people are on the dole? If they are getting money for nothing why shouldnt i? Makes me sick!
You sure must get through some tissues, what with constantly wiping the brown stuff off your nose.
The tube and trains will see volumes increase but people won’t be traveling across London by bus as the traffic will be a nightmare so only buses local to the Olympics will be doing Extra.
well i have been driving bits into the olympics now for over 6 weeks, and no pay rise, the pressures have gone up for me and the security factor has increased ten fold maybe i should ask for a pay rise.
my job has just got a whole lot harder aswell with the new olympic lanes i watched them painting on the other night.
be alright with the during olympic jobs though should have a pass by then
Proper pain in the arse I done 10 loads in to there in one day a few months back probaly could have done 14 if it wasn’t from the security performance. Our yard is right next to it going to be a nightmare
did you have to hit the m11 chigwell back then for the old ghurka search and swab. can loose a good hour or two there
No we are pre booked and have our check in temple mills lane.

What a joke whats going on they want extra for working hard
i got offered £11.75 if i work over Olympia for Tsco
Jeeze! some of you people are beyond belief. Instead of getting onto the backs of those who are being paid more why don’t those of you involved in the Olympic fiasco ask for more cash as they did?
■■■■!! the British public…that’s you mainly… are paying dearly for the games to held but are getting very little back in return. Shouldn’t you all be turning your venom against those that have allowed this to happen… and those who are benefiting most… instead of your fellow workers?
