Excessive lights

Anyone who spends North of £4.99 “decorating”, “modding”, “pimping” a vehicle that they do not own, insure or tax for a company that they do not own, insure or pay tax for hasn’t had ■■■■■■ contact with another human being since they first started tramping, and probably chose to work 60hrs a week whilst their partner was sleeping around most nights of the week

Nothing wrong with pimp and bling, those who go to the bother of a few accessories invariably look after it better than those with the peasant spec supermarket truck… as long as the cost doesnt exceed £4.99 of course… :sunglasses:

He wouldn’t even get near a supermarket truck. Still stuck in a rigid by the looks of it. And still struggling with drivers hours as well going by post history. Oh dear.

Haha! Happily stuck in a rigid doing a couple night out a week. Why would I want To be like the fellas swinging 44 tonne wagons round on 8.25 an hour 4 nights out a week

I work to live, unlike most ■■■■-short syndrome drivers who no doubt spend their 45 tacho breaks posting pics of their sparkling clean Cab fridge

I’m getting there with the hours, thanks for your dedication to read up on my past

Another uppity van boy, pipe down.

A.

Has anybody seen that white rigid (DAF?) van?
I think it belongs to some bed manufacturing co.
You can see it coming for miles, it’s absolutely covered top to bottom in lights. :open_mouth:
I bet he daren’t knock the ignition off, with sidelights on anyway, put it that way.

I’ve had motors before with a rack of lights on the roof,.and they are a help on lonely moor type roads, nothing wrong with them either, .and yeh they do look good on a truck…would I buy them out of my own money for a co. truck…no chance!
Those who use them to intimidate other road users are a bit lacking I reckon, and maybe need to grow up a bit.

Somebody mentioned those lightboard things in the backs of cabs, nah, not for me, I just think they look stupid and bad taste tat, …but hey, what do I know I’ve got curtains with tassles and ties.

And theres me thinking im lacking behind..well lets see what i USED to have..red/white corner lamps..ideal for the front bumper..the same on the rear trailer bumper..but wired up Turkish ` style, so they flash at opposite sides to the indicators ( cool i reckon ) Indicators hanging off the front mirrors…must be cool, they have them today. The obligatory xmas tree on each side of the cab, and the michelin man on top of either mirror, along with a cb aerial on either side too. The country flags neatly fixed in a triangle, and another row across the whole top of the windscreen. I had a bull bar as well, just in case a kangaroo got loose in the western hemisphere ( more for camels in the dessert really, but most ran away when you approached them ) Yes turkish fitted airhorns, beat the standard horn anyday, and apart from colonal bogey ( lol ) or le marseille, sounded a lot better…i also had fitted orange marker lights on the wind deflector of my Daf 2800, and the obligatory 4 spots top and bottom…not forgetting the doorcards, that had a dessert scene complete with camels…now all of this was fine, and i had the lights wired and fitted, but some drivers, thought they could do it themselves…and one even caught the cab alight…so they were all banned or had to be fitted by a real electrician…but theres an insight into what we used to decorate the trucks with to make them look different…i am not a fan of it today though ( its an age thing…ask ROB ) but each to their own.

real nice handy rear overhang there.
idea for squeezing around those side streets when delivering.
looks like another white van man with dreams and ambitions to end up as a proper truckie as soon as he stops buying lights, and starts saving for his class 1 test…

What?? Drivers pay for it. :open_mouth:
Don’t be ridiculous, are you saying that some drivers actually are daft enough pay for all this stuff themselves? :open_mouth: surely not.!

(Before I press ‘Submit’ just checking .
Considering the present delicate climate…are we still.allowed to wind a few up? )
Dammit too late.

dont worry,if that happens we can start our own wee secret clique and take turns to bully and swear at each other.

be fair though.
probably the blingmobile driver is well into trucks, and is happy making the best of what he has got.
if i was his boss,id be wanting someone as keen as mustard instead of your normal lazy van driver cretin who leaves the motor manky all the time.
mabey he got the bling supplied,or poss half and half.
either way,id have him before someone that is happy delivering beds in a skip with a roof.

Yeh DD fair enough, take your point,…but Christ there is doing something, then there is OVERdoing something. :bulb:

As DD points out, that bed truck has some overhang :open_mouth:
That rear spray flap wont be doing anything useful, the rear axles too far away…

well some folk used to have optics in the bar in their living room in a council house.the china carthorse pulling a barrel,a pineapple ice bucket, quilted panels on their doors, that picture of a chinky wifey with blue face, not forgetting hilda ogdens 3 flying ducks on the wall.
its all down to taste,( or the lack of it)

oops, you caught me…thats why ive put on 3 stone in the last year…everytime i wake up in the morn, shes got a big fryup made…

A personal choice, a few lights to make the job easier when working in darkness sensible enough.

I prefer the understated look nice paint, a bit of in cab gadgetery, why would you need an LED light board with the make of the truck on it, do you forget ? its written on the front.

There are as you all know worse things bolted to trucks even more ridiculous than excessive lighting, those things take look like bed frames usually attached to a tired old Swedish Bedfords, cow catchers I believe they are called.

Or the mud flaps attached below the front bumper again with the make of the truck written on them ?

Its been going on for years its more visible now as more products are available, remember the holder you bolted to the mirror arm to keep you’re carton of milk cool, or the stick on sun visor LESMAHAGOW or those bloody silly stupid steering wheel knobs.

There is one thing one faux pas that any self respecting driver should never do the one thing that crosses all the red lines, the unacceptable the mark of the true steering wheel attendant/amateur.

Answers below.

by the way its going, then i would think the 1st thing not to do would be to come on here as a newbie steering wheel attendant, ask advice, and not expect to be shot down in flames…

Oh dear  Along with a few other optics ive got a bar with a very nice original 70’s Martini treble bottle optic… you know…shaken not stirred and all that bollox… :grimacing:

You won’t want a job at our place then :sunglasses:

Don’t mind a few extra lights myself, though them cheap Ring yellow lights under each corner of the bumper look absolutely crap and when combined with a knob on the steering wheel and a “living the dream” statement speak volumes about the driver!
