See this statement float round now and again on social media, and it normally comes up in arguments between car and HGV drivers. Everything you own comes on a truck and all that.
But, it works both ways right? Just because we drive everyone’s goods about it doesn’t give us the right to be bullies does it. It doesn’t give us the right to flash a signal twice and move lanes before the car driver going 20mph faster than us even has chance to check their mirrors. Could go on with all the other stuff us HGV drivers are guilty of doing but I think this statement gets thrown around as much as the blind spot argument now. Blame every crash on this apparent blind spot rather than admitting you didn’t check all your mirrors properly and be aware of what was around you. And now we come out with some cop out excuse as to why we can act like pricks on the road because no one would have anything without us.

A little bit over the top like we are all like that plus if a person is inclined to believe that then i think it’s a mental problem the driver has and should seek help

Can’t say I’ve ever heard that saying used by drivers as a justification for crap driving tbh.
I’ve heard it used as a retort towards nimbys for eg, who won’t have you parking in their vicinity, and truck haters in general, the ones who complain about being held up etc, and think their journeys are more important, but never in the context of bad driving.
Yes, transport via truck is critical to supplying goods - but the argument can be used for lots of jobs. Without warehouse workers the trucks wouldn’t be loaded, without factory workers the stuff wouldn’t be made, without farmers the raw product wouldn’t be available for the factory to buy etc.
I think people wheel this reason out too often and the public see it like a broken record… I remember sometime ago on (I think) Jeremy Vine, they were discussing an HGV overtaking ban or some palava. The first interviewee, a lady, representing an organization like RHA, FTA or something if I remember correctly, made a good explanation as to why trucks overtake each other and explained in layman’s terms various things including limiter, momentum, load weight etc.
Then comes Jeremy Vine’s token truck driver, who he puts on the air against a lady resident who lives somewhere near the A19 and says overtaking trucks clog up every road in the area…the conversation went something like:
Resident: Just ban the trucks Jeremy, that’s the answer, get them all of the road!
JV: What, every single one, that would…
Resident: Yes! We can manage perfectly well without them, use the railways instead!
JV: What do you say to that Mr Truck Driver?
Truck Driver: Resident, Everything you have eaten, everything your wear, blah blah blah blah, and everything you buy, blah blah, is brought by truck.
So an opportunity to explain the overtaking situation to Resident was lost. Can’t help thinking the anti-truck JV pitched the truck driver against the resident deliberately, as the first interviewee would have probably shot her down! (nothing against the truck driver, but someone who is a media contact for an organisation is going to be a lot more comfortable, and more familiar with speaking in interviews)

I wouldn’t say I’ve seen as a direct defence for bad driving. It’s more of an attitude that comes across on social media discussions. Normal person might say something like why do lorries have to sit there blocking 2 lanes of the A1 for 10 miles. HGV drivers answer don’t you know everything you have comes on a truck. Or car driver might say why do HGV drivers get so wound up about a car cutting in front when they drive about 3 inches away from the back of each other anyway. (Which is a fair point and you can see why a car driver would ask that), and HGV driver response is again along the lines of you should give us more room we are the hero’s of industry and without us you wouldn’t have anything.
So it’s not a direct, I’m only going to give 2 indicator flashes and then cut up a car even if they are unable to move for me because you wouldn’t own anything without me. Its just an attitude I’ve seen thrown around a lot recently.
Can we have a bored/same old post from the same poster type emoji? Or a sub forum where the select committee of super pro’s can frequent to pur scorn over others, perhaps as they’re so perfect we could call it the pedestal room?

Can’t be arsed with social media the likes of Facebook ettc with all the baggage, aggravation, and potential trouble it brings with it.
Nearest I get to it is this forum.

Who do you mean exactly?.., him, me, both, or neither?
You are bound to get a degree of repetitive type same opinion posts from those with a high and regular post count, it’s only
natural.
Your other point, do you mean like a ‘Trucknet Premier league’ ?
As for being a perfect super pro, …I just can’t help it.

For clarity, I didnt mean you lol
Or if you don’t like what I post then why don’t you ignore me? Not read my posts? Or say it directly to me and say who your talking about rather than being a ■■■■■ and just dropping some sort of hint. Don’t like what I post I frankly couldn’t care less and will continue to write as I do. Have a good day sir.

What’s the point though? Think of it the other way… you’ve dozens of others of posts which I’ve ignored and not bothered replying to. Maybe another one of the same ilk of post was enough and I bit at one? I dunno.
Either way it’s boring. Because it doesn’t matter whatever is said from now on, the same posters with the same views on either side will wade in and it’ll be yet another thread descended into a willy waving farce of attrition that will go on and on until Carryfqst gets involved and then we’ll all be queuing to jump off a bridge and take the toaster for a bath.
It’s the reason (I don’t mean you personally here btw) I rarely post these days, because threads just go downhill and become a battle of twits instead of wits where nobody gives any ground so you get a thread of huffy replies rather than a genuine discussion.
Anyway I’ll leave it there so as not to detract from the thread and maybe just maybe a thread ripping into truck drivers on a forum full of truck drivers may fly.
Rowley my old china. You constantly moan about other wagon steerers on here and like in life itself, there are many folk that are not really up to scratch. But when you start calling folks on an internet forum ’ ■■■■■■■ ', you aren’t really covering yourself in glory…
You end up looking a bit silly. No one is going to turn detective and start chasing around the country looking for the keyboard warrior who called them names on TNUK, in order to say things ’ to their face '. The lorry game is not as big as you think and it’s entirely possible that you will cross paths with some of the drivers on here anyway. If you really insist on a tear-up, get a name plate in your windscreen saying Rowley, park up at Lymm and start shouting the odds. Further tips include lacing up whilst calling as many truckers as you can ’ ■■■■■ ’ Some are quite/very big lads and have a variety of histories so it’s not particularly wise to deliberately provoke them, and besides-you can also come across unadvertised well paid jobs through getting ON with other drivers so it’s a good idea to cool your jets in my opinion
Some of the drivers on here have spent more time filling in paper tacho’s than you and I have driving combined, so it’s also wise to learn a bit from some of these hairy eared Werthers suckers rather than spout off all the time

+1
Again, if it’s aimed at me I never claimed to be perfect. I just have no problem not breaking rules and then blaming others for my wrong doing. If that makes me perfect and others feel they can’t be as good as me then so be it. I don’t consider it as perfection though.

In a word - No.
In a few more words - the “Everything you own comes on a truck” argument tends to be deployed as a justification for being allowed to drive through NIMBY weight restrictions, rather than as justification for poor driving. Of course, your own experience may differ, and maybe you do feel the need to justify your own crap driving…

You’ve seen my driving then have you? No you haven’t so shut the F up and talk about something you actually know something about.
As for weight restrictions unless you have a reason to be in there then don’t go in it. Again, simple. It’s a rule that I didn’t make but I have no issue in respecting it. If that makes me perfect then fine.
