See this statement float round now and again on social media, and it normally comes up in arguments between car and HGV drivers. Everything you own comes on a truck and all that. But, it works both ways right? Just because we drive everyone’s goods about it doesn’t give us the right to be bullies does it. It doesn’t give us the right to flash a signal twice and move lanes before the car driver going 20mph faster than us even has chance to check their mirrors. Could go on with all the other stuff us HGV drivers are guilty of doing but I think this statement gets thrown around as much as the blind spot argument now. Blame every crash on this apparent blind spot rather than admitting you didn’t check all your mirrors properly and be aware of what was around you. And now we come out with some cop out excuse as to why we can act like pricks on the road because no one would have anything without us.
In a word - No.
In a few more words - the “Everything you own comes on a truck” argument tends to be deployed as a justification for being allowed to drive through NIMBY weight restrictions, rather than as justification for poor driving. Of course, your own experience may differ, and maybe you do feel the need to justify your own crap driving…
You’ve seen my driving then have you? No you haven’t so shut the F up and talk about something you actually know something about.
As for weight restrictions unless you have a reason to be in there then don’t go in it. Again, simple. It’s a rule that I didn’t make but I have no issue in respecting it. If that makes me perfect then fine.
A hit, a palpable hit…
