Ever gotten away with speeding?

Has any one ever gotten of scot free or almost scot free from speeding.

I will start of
A few years ago about a year after i passed my class 2 I got flashed on a single carragway, after veiwing the pics i was told i was doing 48 & should have been doing 40, a bit of wrangling & after they gave me some bull about the camera having “radar” they said well after a check with the DVLA we knew it was a HGV. Ok hands up a said & handed over my licence I thought no more until I went for a job through Clearstone (& this is probably the only usefull thing they ever done) & I had to have my licence checked. so after a call to the DVLA it turns out that my licence was totally clean so the very next day I lost my licence  had to call em for a replacement.

Nice eh!

yep  but im not proud of it
it was about three years ago i was rushing home and silver bmw was on my rear end looking in the mirror and blue flashin lights in his grill pulled over asked me why i was speeding
my mate said we was on our way back to base we were both in the army at the time at home on standby to fly out to iraq so e said ok and said watch what your doing and take it easy :open_mouth: :open_mouth: i never went to iraq they sent me to ireland instead :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

yep…79.9 on A14 in my van when its only 60mph on the duel carrageway for it…got away with a lecture as i was on way to a tyre job up the road. The copper did check my PDA just to make sure i was onway to a job…I bet if i wasnt then i would have got a ticket…

about 20 years ago riding my GS750 home from work, doing about 80-90mph along a B road and then slowed to about 50 in a 30 limit.

Saw the Copper with a handheld dectector, but it was to late, he probally heard me miles away as the bike had race spec Harris 4-1.

I knew I’d been going a bit quick and admitted it, but he said the gun didn’t lock onto my bike as there was a car going the other way and just told me to be more carefull in future.

Got nicked on the same bike about a year later, doh!

Got gatso’d on the A15 Lincoln, bang to rights doing 50 odd in a 40. Muppets got summons paperwork slighly wrong i got the charge dropped in court.
It done the trick though, very seldom do i ever exceed the posted limit in anything now.

Got away with 2 out of 3 - so not a bad result!!!

1st one I lost, 54 in a 40 on a NSL road, took it court and got £150 and 5 points!!!

2nd, Camera got me, 48 in a 40, was in a van though and I had, err, neglected, to sign it out so whilst the TM was certain it was me they had to respond to the NIP with a “Don’t Know”.

3rd, was in a car, 30 limit on a dual carriageway, I was going somewhat in excess of this!!! Copper jumps out with his radar gun, as I see him slam on the anchors and he pulls me in, gun showing 64, which was good as it meant I had managed to loose at least 30mph!!! Was going at a seriously stupid speed - thought I was going to loose licence for sure on this one - but after a bit of work on the net found out the LTI2020 gun needed certain calibrations to be done daily before it was admissible evidence, wrote to Chief inspector of traffic for thames valley asking to see copies of calibration’s etc - he wrote back stating that “If” they decided to take it further they would provide them - never heard anymore about it, so me thinks they did not do the calibration

The last of these was at least 7 years ago, learnt my lessons and have no intention of repeating them!!!

About 5 years ago a camera flashed me. Bugger i thought until i got back to the yard and i had forgotten to put my number plate on the trailer
never heard nothing.

Yep,i got away :exclamation:
Was travelling 100km/h for some Time the 61 down in Germany and found a Parking full of Officers. No way to pass, and,Yep
“Tacho”,the Officer said
Gave him from the fresh one,and he asked:"Whats that?"and pointed to the Speed.
“Wasn’t on the Motorway” i replied,he signed the Tacho and i drove off :exclamation:
Just,as the rear of my Trailer passed him stopped he in Shock, turned around and waved with both Hands
:bulb: Means:“Never Lay!”

about 11 years ago, pulled in for doing 43 in a 30 at 2am on a saturday morning. i got breathalysed when i said i had been in a pub all night (cant imagine why  ). was sent on my way with a warning to watch my speed and watch out for drunk drivers
coule of weeks ago i was pulled for doing around 40 in a 30. the thing that caught their attention was the fact that my back end skipped slightly when i entered the roundabout heading to work. (A899 from the M8 at the houston interchange). the speed wasnt the problem, it was the fact that it was a bit nippy and my arse end had skipped a couple of inches which it would have done at any speed over 20 due to the layout. it isnt evenly matched. again, sent on my way, he didnt even get out of his van to give me a ticking off
on the A1 i pass police cars going the opposite way almost daily. 1 was the first to pass me at start of the last section of DC before purdy lodge after he had sat behind me on the limiter from the last DC (that includes slowing down for the scamera). i dont mind the police officers who show some sense and leave us alone. there is a big difference between ‘speeding’ and ‘excessive speed for the conditions’

Don’t post on here normally, but this is my favourite subject…

I got let off by plod in an unmarked car for doing 141mph on a Yamaha R6…

It was my proudest moment as a full UK licence holder

That sounds like a very lucky break. I hoped you offered a helping hand for the policemans ball :stuck_out_tongue:

Can you stick to the racetrack and sign this petition. please.

Caught doing 120 mph in a Bond Equipe (yes, I know it dates me!) on the M6 near Lancaster, about 2.a.m - advised by a very nice traffic Policeman not to be so conspicuous in the future!

Successfully defended an ALLEGED speeding offence.

I convinced the Police that their evidence was poor and would not stand up in court. After a few months they agreed and dropped the case!

Should’ve guessed that would happen :unamused:

A few moons ago I drove for Oriel Jones and sons (Llanyybydder). I was stopped on my return leg in Newtown (Powys) in the middle of the night. The copper had seen me going north earlier with no trailer number plate. On showing him my tacho he exclaimed “what is that!”. The tacho showed speeds of 125 km/h on accasions. He shook his head, told me to always make sure to have a number plate in the trailer and to slow down son! I was a very lucky young man.

I have not posted on this thread before now,as I was expecting a NOIP through the letterbox.
At the beginning of October, the first Thursday,I left our depot and dropped onto the A500 heading for junction 16 of the M6 to go North. It was 03.30 in the morning, and I joined the A500 from the A34 and dropped in behind two other trucks.Like them,I was soon on the limiter, but the truck in front of me was even faster as he started to overtake the truck in front of him.We were on the downhill stretch towards the Audley turnoff, over the limiter doing maybe 57 or 58 mph, when I saw the lights of a car that was gaining on me in the outside lane, then it slowed and dropped in behind me,I thought maybe he was coming off for Audley. As I passed the Audley exit slip and started the uphill stretch just before the M6,the car pulled out and overtook me,and of course,it was the Old Bill!
By this time, the truck that was in front of me had finished his overtaking and they were both slowing down for the M6.The police car overtook them and I never saw it again, but you know how it is,did they clock me or did they not?
Well it’s over 2 months now and I’ve heard nothing,so can I asume that I got away with it?As it’s only a week to Christmas, the last thing I want is another 3 points!
The annoying thing is,during daylight hours when driving through Stoke centre on the A500,where the limit is 50, in either my car or truck,I stick religiously to the 50 limit, while every other car passes me at 60-70 mph or even more.
Where are the police then? You never see them!

I believe that you have to be notified within 14 days, I know this is correct for speed cameras. I would of thought they would of pulled you over with the view of finding other offences…tacho’s etc. So I think you are in the clear.

I think the 14 days is if you are a private car driver. If you drive a company vehicle,it may take longer to trace the driver through the vehicle owner and maybe as in my case, the agency, therefore I think they have a longer time to trace you.
Having said that, when I’ve been nicked previously I’m sure the NOIP came through quicker than this,so I’m starting to feel reasonably safe.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

How did you get it wound up to that? They were only rated at about 99mph… for the 2ltr.
