Ever gotten away with speeding?

sheffield parkway 1989 sunday night at about 10 05 pm
exceeding the limit by a small :open_mouth: margin in outside lane in works security van,in the rear view saw a car catching me up so i knocked it back a small notch (85) and pulled to the nearside thinking that id best let this nutter past  (un marked car :open_mouth: ) as he drew up to the side of me he looked at me, shook his head, laughed at his mate, probably at my expression , and sped off.
boy am i glad he had somewhere better to be that night

i did see other post in Sat Trackers / Speeding

Has any one ever gotten of scot free or almost scot free from speeding.

Caught doing 120 mph in a Bond Equipe (yes, I know it dates me!) on the M6 near Lancaster, about 2.a.m - advised by a very nice traffic Policeman not to be so conspicuous in the future!

How did you get it wound up to that? They were only rated at about 99mph… for the 2ltr.

Ah, that’s because it wasn’t exactly as it came out of Ribbleton Lane
It did start life as a 2 Litre (the second prototype, in fact) but it was breathed upon, and the overdrive plus 3.27 diff helped too

June 2005 I Had a crapp week

cant remember the exact dates but it was something like 13th Flashed at Swineshead Bridge in Lincolnshire 35mph in 30 limit 3pts + £60 fine

15th Flashed at Cockburnspath on A1 North Bound 48mph on Single Carriageway

17th Flashed at East Reston on A1 Northbound 48 on Single Carriageway

I already had 3 pts on licence from 2 years before that in car

Paid Lincolnshire without arguing as it was too far to travel to fight it, but Lothian and Borders I had no option but to elect to go to court as it would of been 12pts, I wrote to the Police stating I was contesting them on the grounds that one of them was due to high winds v Double Deck trailer and I had to increase the speed due to cross winds to deflect the side winds from blowing trailer over

Never heard anything more from them with regards to court appearance for either offence :sunglasses:

Having said that, there could be a warrant out for me that I’m not aware of Lol

At the moment I’m fighting a case for my son with Essex Police and expecting a decision today as to whether they are proceeding with the case or not, for Failing to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident and Driving without due care and attention. :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Quite a few years ago i was homeward bound after a holiday in Brittany.
It was early morning around 0100 and i was northbound on the m1, caning the backside off my 2.0i gls sierra. Mrs jb was fast asleep so i got the boot down a bit i.e 105-110 mph.(seems like bs i know but they WERE fast cars honest)
A police t5 volvo came steaming by like i was going backwards :open_mouth: . Off at the junction ahead and turned to go back down the m1.
It woke me up and slowed me down a bit too

I used to have a 2-litre Sierra GLS with the Pinto engine. It’s still going but it’s been resurrected as a Westfield sports car, still with the original E-registration.

It was a cracking motor harry… in a straight line  . It handled like a barge though. I bet its a corker in a westfield.
I swear i saw 130 on the clock once

I’ll support that. The 2.0 ltr Sierras were fast.

They varied a bit, as all identical production line cars do, but some were very rapid.

I particularly remember a blue J reg hatchback owned by the local garage, I did quite a few miles in it with a car transporter trailer on. Remember coming back (empty) down the M74-M6 late one night from Glasgow. May well have been a weekend as the road was very quiet, just kept letting her go on a bit & giving the steering a little twitch to check how wag-happy the trailer was at 5mph increments. Solid as a rock. Wouldn’t really like to publicise the final cruising speed, but think there was an 0 & an 8 in it somewhere

my own current workhorse is a 93 k SIerra 1.8 TDi Estate. 188,000 miles Owned it 8 years.
