Euxton again !!!

There really is no excuse this bridge is well signposted etc seems like someone attempts it every couple of weeks !!

well he’s between the lines

enough warning signs before the bridge.
in both directions.

some folk ain’t fit out!

I would vote for the bridge at DUNRAGIT on the A75 taking top place it has seen some action over the years. Eddie.

Where is Euxton? I was trying to zoom in on the height marker, looked like it said 12 foot 9, is that correct? If so wtf was he thinking?

Since when has 13 feet been 4 metres??

Just round the corner from heinz Wigan , height marker is at 13 foot

Lancashire. M6 - not far from Bamber Bridge. or Preston.

Edit - soz mate - A49 to be more specific. Navigator atlas only shows 3 bridges in the vicinity. 14ft, 13ft9 & 13ft6. Take yer pick!

13 ft 3 inch is 4m 4cm. Theres a bridge between the a52 and easton cold store that is marked at 13’ 3 , and i reckon our 13’3 trailers would no where near fit through.

Pedant alert! 4 metres = 13ft.1234 in.

the problem is the hight is marked at the apex of the bridge, so really the hight is for talks sake 13’ but it’s only that hight for say 24" width. make em all square

I work out of that coldstore and tbh you can get 13’6 under that bridge, the problem is it’s an arch bridge with a sharp bend going into it and a sharp bend coming out of it and you need to be dead central to fit through. We’re warned not to use it, but there have been occasions when the A1 has been shut where we’ve had no option (short of not leaving/coming back to the yard). But hit it at your peril is what we’re quite rightly told.

Its a farce innit? sposed to be the height between the chord markings. :unamused:

Personally I wont take the risk on any bridge which is within 4" of my trailer

That’s a very sensible idea redbob, but I reckon that sometime in your driving career you’re gonna have to break that rule. Sometimes crap happens and you end up doing stuff you aren’t entirely comfortable with.

I would too, but not for much longer as a bypass for Dungragit is well under way.

Just outside Chorley Lancashire on A49. You can avoid the bridge by going towards M61 signs about 2 miles back from this and come back down via Buckshaw village or go A6.

3.96 metres is 13’ :sunglasses: is it not? euxton is A49 round the back of chorley! well signed too :grimacing: :grimacing: he’s probably looking for new waitrose :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

So my daughter has no idea what a foot is, they learn metres now, if it isn’t 4.0 metres then it is marked wrong and also where is it 4.0 metres I know where it’s supposed to be. If that was me and hopefully the height marker in the cab is in metres, I would be contesting any prosecution. It’s alright blaming the driver if the bridge is marked correct
