Eurotrux from near chippenham

does anyone remember them? they used to do a lot of eastern bloc and russia on general haulage, and also rock and roll work. they were eventually brought by transam. just wondering if anyone has any pictures (i have the ones from the euro wheels site i thik) or remembers any of their drivers, the ones i know are steve dawson, gary fleming, rob ‘noddy’ holder, richard mcleod

ay info or pictures would be great

Eurotrux was run by a Mr Phil Allen and I think that they were in a sort of partnership with Transam Trucking.

I had 4 units and flat trailers on for him in 1993 on the Zooropa tour for U2 we were on one of the staging crews who used to leapfrog the gigs with the staging and went all over Europe from May till August.

I know Ron Huntley was on that tour with his dad Eddie they will possibly have some pics!

Previous to that I had done a double drive overnight from Barcelona to Milan in 1992 I think with a driver called Allistair Breckonridge, with a load Trabants in the box, unfortunately a Daf carrying some important equipment broke down and the gig had to be cancelled/postponed

Regards Pat

Is this Alan Walker on the forklift?

I remember bolting a couple of Volvo tank brackets on the front of that trailer so you could carry a barrel of engine oil for the 3 month tour!!

you live in norfolk, and there are about 5 ex eurotrx drivers working down the road in suffolk!! small world! ill ask if anyone remembers john, from what i have been told the truck sounds about right, amazing it would go round a corner, from the sound of it they spent more time stationary!!

 hi there euromate, dont know your name, your right about the truck, not only did it leak like a sive the blood steering was all over the place, by the time i got to the frost boarder my bloody arms were aching like nobodies business,(my spellings crap)so i decided enough was enough, and we got the spanners out and ajusted the worm in the steering box, it was a lot better after that, i see that transam are still going up here doing the groupes. got to go now mate but a big thankyou for reverting back so quickly mate, keep in touch, all the best mate. :sunglasses:

Hi I did a couple of jobs for eurotrux in the 80’s. I’ve been stuck in doors with the flu and have just discovered a load of photos of the Joshua Tree tour (1986/7?) Iam still trying to work out how to post photos I’ll try again. Does any one know why Phill Allens wife now appears to be spokesperson for Stardes? I think David Coombs was only transport man, he left and went to a big removal co in Wembly area I think , got them involved in R&R until they saw the light then he set up FlyBy Nite. I cant think of the co’s name- grey/ white with purpley writing.

Trans Euro was the company in Wembley.

Dave Coumbes started off the specialist side, along with Richard Dines who used to have Show Haul in East Grinstead. They never really did R&R though.

It was mainly Conference work.

Richard Dines persuaded several of Fieldings drivers to leave and go to Trans Euro but it was never really the job it was promised to be.
