Hi euromat. most of the other photo’s I have show either me or the staging neither I expect are that interesting ! I expect you know what a stage looks like! when I worked for eurotrux they were based at Pucklechurch north of Bristol. In the early 80’s I did some tours for Mike Keedwell who was married to Mel Bushes sister at the time. Over the years I met a few Trans Am drivers, one used to claim that Diss was the centre of the universe-strange fellow!
im guessing thats the same keedwell that did rock and roll? green trucks? i got some pictures from someone on here of theirs. what names can you remember from your eurotrux days?

Hi, that will be the ones they were a dark greeny blue IIRC mainly Saviems. I am sorry I am not very good with names some mornings I can’t even remember my own! I can usually remember a face then when I meet someone after a long time I spend the next two days trying to work out who they are!
I used to know Phil Allen very well both at Pucklechurch and Melksham, he bought a lot of Scania spares off me, and I did some double manning for him, as I have previously said on one occasion from Barcelona to Milan with an Allistair Brekonridge???Which was a waste of time as Phil’s Daf broke down and the show was cancelled. I also had trucks on a U2 tour with him.
I did buy some 111’s from him and I have to say that they were among some of the most worn out trucks I have ever bought!!! They were fitted with some ‘Super oil filters’ which was like like a giant tin can with a giant toilet roll inside. I don’t think he had ever changed the oil!! I had only bought them to break for spares but on the better looking one I blocked off the breather pipe and welded in a small pipe to the down tube and connected that to the inlet so that it was breathing in it’s own fumes, when you took off the oil filler cap it was clear from fumming! I then took it to Blackbushe auction and saw it sold to an exporter, I often wondered what ever happened to it as if you drove it any distance it would undoubtedly sucked in all it’s own oil and then blown up!!

does anyone remember them? they used to do a lot of eastern bloc and russia on general haulage, and also rock and roll work. they were eventually brought by transam. just wondering if anyone has any pictures (i have the ones from the euro wheels site i thik) or remembers any of their drivers, the ones i know are steve dawson, gary fleming, rob ‘noddy’ holder, richard mcleod
HI EUROMAT, HOW YOU DOING, I FIRST BUMPED INTO PHIL IN HADITHA (KSA) HE WAS ON HIS WAY TO DUBI TO SELL A TRUCK FOR HOSS, A STRANGE MAN AT FIRST SIGHT, BUT AFTER ABOUT TWO DAYS IN THE BORDER TOGETHER WITH TWO OTHER LADS, THE FOUR OF US HAD A GOOD CRACK. THE NEXT TIME I SAW PHIL WAS ABOUT TWO YEARS LATER IN ROME ON A MADGE TOUR, SINSE THEN IVE KEPT IN CONTACT WITH HIM, IVE WORKED ON AN OF, DOING JOBS WITH OLD PHIL HE S A STAR…
HERE HE IS IN THE CENTER OF THIS PHOTO SUMMER 2007…
AND AGAIN SUMMER 2007, HE SOLD THE WHAM TEASHIRT FOR A GOOD PROFIT AT THE END OF THE SHOW, SAYING IT HAD SERVED HIM WELL, CHECK OUT THE DATE ON IT?
AND HE S STILL CRACKING ON,CHEERS GENTS, REGARDS RABBIT…
aniacs, interesting stuff too, alistair brackenbridge i am sort of in contact with, although i have never met him, him and his brother gordon both did stints for transam, which one was in the band which had a number one hit? one was the singer, but the song which made number 1 was an instrumental!!
here you are lads as promised pic of myself parked outside gaspol in Katowich first trip for Phil (one very clean driver due to regular showers from sun roof!!)
In reply to the Eurotrux question ,there were a few old hands there when me Alistair and my brother Gordon Brackenridge went to work there in 85,where,are Mad Dog,Clarkie,Brian Waters,Phil May,Johny Marr,Rod Wilson,Kenny Rich,Nick Mallet,Martin Wright to name a few,me and Gordon went to Transam from there him in 89 and me in 91 and had many happy times only wrote one off in my time [sorry Mark]Been living in the south of France for last 3 years but heading back to UK soon so you never know Pig Pen may give me a tour to do sometime .\we were into music most of our lives so driving was just another part of the same job,Gordon was the singer and I played drums for different bands early 70s THE GOOD OLD DAYS haha
