I’m sure you can sleep in a van if it has a proper bunk.

Yep you are right but not alowed to sleep across the seats any more

Tsscoh, kids of today, I used to sleep on a plank laid across the door handles of my Atkinson Borderer, minus 15 it used to be up on Shap.

tell kids that today - they’d never believe you!!

Sorry but you cant sleep in the van these days as they changed that a while ago
But most are owner drivers as they then have less prob/ expense

Lot of big company drivers do it as well - after whole day of driving last thing you want is to drive around and look for a hotel room…

As for the original question: there seems to be not much work around any more on the European front. Bloody Eastern Europeans stole our jobs

I recon its not profitable to run vans anymore these days, its to expensive to run a van all around the country with 1-5 pallets on, its easier to use a bigger haulage company that will deliver overnight and charge less, rather than to hire a van.( thats if you look from the persons point of view who pays for the service)

And a proof for that is Bigverns 2 day report, absolute waste of money for the company.(no offence BV)

Except in cases where you want to be sure that your stuff will arrive on time and intact. General pallet forwarders are as they are…

I think it depends on the job to be fair. If someone wants it as dedicated freight, they’ll pay for it.
