No ■■■■■■■■ about ‘there’s more to it.’ If that’s the basic wage it’s an insult for the responsibility involved.
What exactly is the responsibility involved, its point and steer, not rocket science is it?
If you can’t see the responsibility, maybe you should find a job you understand properly?
So were do you see the massive responsibilities in the job?
The ad calls for a set of skills, which some people may feel is not being rewarded by the salary offered, but no mention of responsibilities, maybe you should learn what words actually mean before spouting [zb] on the internet.
I am perfectly aware of what the words mean ta.
So from your comments I deduce you’d be happy for an utterly irresponsible person to be in charge of a 44 tonne articulated vehicle then?
A truck driven by someone lacking in skill and/or behaving irresponsibly is a dangerous bit of kit. If you can’t see that, you’re in the wrong job. . A certain amount of responsibility is required to drive any motor vehicle. It is one of the principle reasons why children are not permitted to drive, and along with lack of experience, why drivers aged between 17-21 are the most likely to crash.
Im with you Luke & Geoffo i started euro work by being asked if i had my passport with me & got sent straight out to do France & Benelux i think its much easier than uk work.
same here, 6 months after passing test asked have i driven in europe? and have i got class 1?
Yes but never done both together, 2 days later of to france and germany… but no oner told me about the permits then

That doesn’t seem to match the actual requirements given in this case.Like most if not all other cases.Unless I’ve missed something and the advert actually just says no previous international experience required but must have valid passport.Maybe on planet trucknet but not in the real world.

The way I read it a 21 year old with previous left hand drive and euro experience including Swiss would have more chance than someone with 10 years of uk experience.Although the age thing is just as much bs as all the other elitist bs.Responsibility isn’t something that can be judged based on age,or having previous experience of left hand drive wagons,or being able to speak fluent German,or international border clearance experience or being paid more than £500 per week to do the job.The fact is every driver has to start somewhere regardless of age.

Holy bo jangles Carryfast this is exactly what I’ve been trying to tell you!
I know and if you’d have read my posts properly you’d see that I agree with that bit.
The bit we disagree about is the way that those doing the hiring, which is what matters, see it.In which case it’s all just a matter of luck wether someone who wants to start somewhere ( on international work ) ( or even uk work at the age of 21 ) is given the chance to do that or gets told to zb off at the recruitment stage by whoever is doing the hiring. In which case the advert in this case says it all. While others just seem to want to argue about the red herring that £500 per week isn’t enough for the job even if they had the required language skills and left hand drive and border clearance experience.
Although as I said luckily in this case the issue of exploding grapes doesn’t seem to matter so hence only £500 per week instead of £2,500.

Best no show Bertie that picture. He had a run in with a seagull yesterday, it ■■■■■■ in his eye. But then he was poking it with a stick.
Some say that seagulls don’t like 12 bore shotguns for some reason.
I had to confiscate Bertie’s WWII pistol when he tried to shoot me whilst I was backing on a bay. Thankfully the only damage was a surface wound and a broken window. Oh and banned from Tesco Avonmouth because Bertie wasn’t wearing a hi viz when he fired the weapon.
