Left hand drive experience essential,
Must have left hand drive and Swiss clearance ‘experience’ etc etc blah zb blah.I think that advert says everything about the bs elitism applied by most employers in that sector of the industry.Obviouly nothing changes.
They want all that kind of experience but on that kinda wage? Only person with That experience on that salary would be someone who’s desperate for some certain reasons…
most construction plant operators get low to mid double figure rates per hour cos we stood up and said “hang on you’re taking all the work and giving it to the ski’s” so health and safety now reads that the operator has to be able to converse in unbroken english and must have english qualifications that cost a fortune so the ski’s ■■■■ off elsewhere.
transport didn’t do it - they didn’t make it so that every driver has to have english quals, taken in england, i know there’s dcpc but that’s europe wide whereas cscs is uk only and cos they cost a small fortune to get it means that the operators effectively set the rates that they’re prepared to work for and these are now industry standard rates…
Well it’s all set out for somebody to make an educated decision on.
Money not enough, don’t apply, don’t like Volvos, don’t apply, don’t like F/D/NL/CH don’t apply.
I agree the money is a good bit shy of a decent wage but in these times it they will fill those drivers seats and have a good few waiting in the wings.
Not everybody does the job purely for the wage. Also it depends upon the actual deal. 19k all in is rubbish but 26k plus exes is not to bad for a 5 day week which is what the ad states.
I think its a great advert. Straightaway and without any interview they’ve eliminated some of the “won’t do this and that” brigade.
They’ve also eliminated anyone who’s just got a background of doing uk work and driving right hand drive wagons and it’s probably no good saying that they’ve got left hand drive ( and centre drive ) experience driving road sweepers and fire trucks.Let alone anyone who doesn’t speak fluent German but I’ve always found that knowing a bit of more than one of the Euro languages is more useful than knowing a lot of just one.
So this company can’t get dutch drivers at them wages so lets go to the UK ? Is this because they know that they are more likely to find some cheap eastern european drivers here than they will in Holland ?
