Our international transport industry didn’t die because English truck drivers didn’t want to do it.Its dead because british hauliers can make as much or more money here without the hassle of going over the water. Doesnt mean to say the work isnt there if they want it though.
No, it died as a direct result of the 2004 and 2007 eu expansion because of wage arbitrage.
Harry, how do you explain all the NL,D,B,F,IRL…trucks we see in the UK and all over Europe??But we don’t see as many English trucks abroad…i’m not having a go,it’s just one of those things i can not understand.
They pay fair wages aswell!!

We need to cut our wasted borrowing ie the benefit system and concrentrate on our export of services. There’s a very simple solution that everyone has overlooked, and it would turn UK finances around overnight. If every corporate company/individual had to pay tax here on what they earnt/took here instead of being allowed to go through offshore ruses to avoid paying tax that would probably solve any public sector deficit we have.
And anyway for the blokes who like euro tramping they’ll jump at that job. Its an ok wage, but them guys that do that work usually just like to do it. They can be on their own for long periods of time without interacting with to many people, the people they do interact with they don’t understand them half the time. Its a win win situation. I always find Euro trampers a bit wierd anyway. I mean what normal person wants to spend weeks or even months away in a truck ?
Probably the same type of wierdo who is too tight to employ enough drivers on a rota to give them all adequate time off.But I think the ‘deficit’ is actually a ‘bit’ more than just that which applies to the public sector which is probably more like the tip of the iceberg of the total financial deficit that the country is in.

Blimey just look around you in the queue for the ferry at Dover if you think that the east european road transport industry hasn’t now got a strangle hold on UK-European road transport in addition to which many of those west european registered trucks are actually driven by east euro drivers.

I think those numbers of East European trucks compared to our own running freight between the UK and Europe answers the question. As for the Irish, just as for those other nations, maybe their respective customers are more loyal to their own road transport industries to transport their exports and imports than the British customers are.Which seems to have been a common issue concerning all type of British industry and it’s customers not just its road transport industry.Which probably explains why those operators can find more of a market for their domestically registered trucks than British operator can.Which is why we need to leave the EU and apply quota permits on freight transport road journeys between the UK and Europe which make sure that British trucks have to carry out at least 50% of those journeys.

Whats with the polish bashing?
It’s not “Polish-bashing”, more a case of saying that immigration policy over the last decade has had a hugely damaging effect on native working-class people, pushing wages down and housing costs up.
The “working class” have brought this on themselves, before the downturn the english didnt want the crap jobs and the only people you could get to fill these jobs were poles and no one really battered an eye lid, but after the wind changed everyone decided actually they do want the jobs but of course there already taken so what does everyone do?? Well like usual they blame someone else!
Until this country has a massive social change like the germans did after ww2, we mite as well forget it, the debt is spiralling out of control and the lazy [zb] in this country still think their owed more!
You’re a perfect example of why the working class people of this country are being [zb] on from a great height. Keep reading the sun and let us know when you feel able to step up to the Beano!
So the best way to get the country out of the zb is to open the borders up to more immigrant labour and to cut the minimum wage by half.

The best way to get the country out of [zb] is to massively cut our borrowing before we get our credit rating downgraded and have to start selling of our assets to service the debt.
And how do you intend to do all that without a corresponding increase in economic growth which obviously includes wage levels and then how will you deal with the problem of the resulting trade deficit because all that growth will do is create a massive import bill therefore a corresponding increase in debt.
We need to cut our wasted borrowing ie the benefit system and concrentrate on our export of services.
Keep cutting benefits for the poor and vulnerable, Debt will become insignificant, there won’t be little skirmishes like (riots) but a full blown civil war in the UK, because people will only take so much(zb) from that (zb) camoron !!!
If they(he) was in anything with the rest of us they(he) would of started by taking a significant pay cut for their term in office, and stopped all expenses , what hardship are they facing?
Lots of Innocent sick & disabled people are being discriminated against because of that prick ,
The welfare reform bill ,gave a lot of money to ATOS who carry out fake medical exams aka (wca) by signing many as possible “fit for work” when clearly they are not,FOI requests show that the number of people who died within days of failing the ATOS wca had risen,
GP’s are being pressured not to help those who where declared “fit for work” by issuing further MED3 sick notes for pre existing conditions so that they can still get a reduced rate of benefit whilst they await an independent appeal average time frame currently is 12mths waiting, due to the numbers appealing which according to DWP sources over 70% win their appeal , &
ATOS wca’s were described by the BMA or BMC as “not fit for purpose” But nothing has changed ,is this at all fair?
Bering in mind that a percentage of these people will have worked and paid their taxes too at some point in their lives,

The whole social security system is just a scam to raise taxation revenues by rationing the so called ‘benefits’ for anyone unfortunate enough to need to claim them. While at the same time saving employers the money in wages required to pay for decent private provision in social security, health care, and retirement.
Well i doubt that the state pension will exist in the next 10-15 yrs So seems pointless paying in the pot just so pricks like camoron can maintain a luxury lifestyle he just has his predecessors are only interested in feathering their own greedy dirty nests
I wonder who the job is for? Could be interesting…

So who was it who built the country into the place which it was at the start of WW1 and WW2 bearing in mind that the natives in the ‘commonwealth’ were still mostly natives in their own lands not here at that time. For example most British buses,at least in and around London, used British drivers and conductors at that time.So what changed after WW2 assuming that wage rates refelcted economic growth and retail prices in real terms. The clue is they didn’t.
Add in they had to rebuild half the country after ww2 and a fair few men of that generation were left in a foreign field that’s forever England ands fair few we’re criped

There’s always more to it. Usually tax free.
the situation we’ve created in the construction industry is spot on cos we got the government to give us english quals to get you on a job - you can’t get them in east europe and they cost a small fortune to get in the uk, we got english builders, we got english site managers (not met a ski one yet) cos of the quals system, we got english workers cos the site manager requests that he/she has english staff so that he/she can understand them without having to spell everything out, so therefore we get english wages which means that our wages allow us to live above the poverty line plus most of us are self employed so the building firm doesn’t have to pay out for things like pensions, redundancy, doesn’t have half the paperwork to do cos the staff have already done it for them etc…
how many large scale building companies do you see from the eastern block ■■? you don’t cos the english want their own little bit of england for themselves — the english did a massive land grab and therefore got a monopoly on it — you’ll see odd job eastern europeans but that’s it and most of them are cowboys…
thinking that if transport had gone down this route a long time ago then things would be very different — i’ll admit that getting eveyone to have their own o lic is prob going a bit far but they could’ve had a moritorium on that and made the quals to drive a purely english thing ie; only drivers that passed their test in the uk can drive a truck in the uk on health and safety grounds works for construction…
as for comment about lazy scousers — well i’m now well and truly ■■■■■■ about that comment given that i’m born and bred scouse — we’re not lazy, we’re not idle and WE’RE CERTAINLY NOT GETTING THE SORT OF BENEFITS THAT THE SKI’s GET WHEN THEY COME HERE AND WE WERE BORN AND BRED HERE. you ever driven a ford or a jag or a range rover ■■? chances are it was assembled by a SCOUSER – ■■■■■■ ■■■■■■… cos tata steel that own the plant use LOCAL labour to produce them and contrary to popular belief about the decline of everything tata steel are still taking on…
Wow! Love truck net, a simple job advert turns into a full on political debate!

I fully agree but i think the problem with that is it could well end up pushing wealthly people out of the country and taking their businesses with them. Havnt the goverment been offer attractive tax relief deals to car manufacturers so they come over here to build their cars?
