A light-hearted look at Brexit for the weekend

Reminds me of a prolific poster here

Trying to find where we wont ever trade with europe again is written. We will trade with them but on our terms , more scaremongering from the spineless

Well here we are with this thread being live since February 2016 we have 162 pages, 4835 replies & 193613 views so it must appeal to quite a wide audience, rarely of the first page of TNUK. Obviously there are a few regular posters who have different views on Brexit good or bad but that is the art of discussion even on line, it does get heated at times but that is the nature of the beast, when all said and done there is occasional humour as well and the figures above show how popular this subject is which ever way your leanings are, long may it continue in its present form, Buzzer.

We can choose to trade with the EU according to any rules we care to make. Of course we can. Perfectly true.

I am going to set my labour rate as a driver at £3,000 per hour. If they dont want me stuff em!
Starvation? Nah, not enough positive thinking. Ill stay positive and tell them how good I am. Theyll come running!

Not sure how anyone can argue that this thread has become political. It was political from the outset. The title says it all.

Never was anything to do with lorries, apart from the effect on the industry in which we all work, or have worked.

It was, is, and always has been, a political thread. There may be a case for removing some of the more extreme posts, or taking down the thread altogether, but moving it somewhere else isn’t going to change its nature.

My point entirely  . It should probably have been created in Bully’s forum at inception, or removed there on day one  Robert

Perhaps Buzzer thought that it would only be old time drivers that would be interested?

Looking at he thread title, no one is likely to stumble in here by accident.
Other threads that start off on other subjects, and end being overtly political, maybe should be moved, but this thread is popular and could also be a good be a good revenue stream for TNUK. I reckon they should ask for sponsorship from different advertisers, such as Vasotec, Altace and Mavik?

I thought the EU was supposedly all about what’s good for the workers by making sure not to under cut anyone. It seems clear where your true sympathies are in that regard.Let’s get Turkey signed up ASAP because Bulgarian labour is getting a bit expensive and not everyone takes in Turkish ‘gaste arbeiters’ on a regular basis like ze Germans do. :unamused:

Fact checking ■■? Ma Kranky was put in charge of the Scottish Democrats without a democratic vote from the members whereas Salmon left because ,well i’m not too sure about that but im sure you do

Salmond resigned after losing the Indy Referendum. There was no vote for Nicola to replace him as leader because she was unopposed. There were no other candidates. She was Deputy Leader at the time, so simply moved up to being Leader. And a fine job she’s doing too.
Who are the Scottish Democrats? Never heard of them.

Oh thanks for clearing that up , i dont really care who she’s leader of to be fair because she makes that many contradictions i cant keep up . Good luck with the independance vote i hope you get it then i look forward to the EU welcoming you with open arms , insisting on you using the euro , then setting up your own NHS paying for prescriptions just like us , university fees too , a border hopefully .I too think Ma Kranly is doing a fine job , but quite a few of your fellow countrymen dont agree

No our little island will be ome isolated no one will deal with us we will have to become self sufficient Merc , Audi ,VW , BMW , Volvo , Scania , Iveco are all going to refuse to trade with us because we have had the balls to stand up to the EU and say enoughs enough … get real

She’s leader of the third largest party in Westminster. Got your finger on the pulse as usual I see.

Just hope we get out on Halloween then we can sit back and watch it all collapse, as for trade I think Ramone is spot on and if we do leave trade will just carry on as normal as neither side has ought to gain by making things difficult in the movement and sale of goods, all this spin about shortages is pure and simple scare mongering by those remainers who want to be ruled by unelected jumped up Eurocrats who could not hold down a proper job so long as there backsides point downwards.
Can someone actually put a figure on what Brussels and the EU machine really costs to run, would not mind betting it would be an eye watering amount if it was revealed but I doubt we will ever find out will we, Buzzer.

Scotland had a vote for independance which was voted against , it was a minority who wanted to leave , she wa ts another vote . Britain had a vote to leave the EU , a majority voted to leave Ma Kranky wants another vote because the majority of Scotland want to remain .So when the majority of scotland want to stay in Britain she wants another vote for the minority when the majority of scotland want to stay in the EU she wants another vote does she just want to vote until she wins … beer time

Democracy means having more than one vote, otherwise there would not be repeated general elections. There are around 2 million more people eligible to vote now who were too young in 2016, the very people this important matter effects most. They deserve their democracy too.

Both the above in the same sentence.

Very true.

Haven`t we had this before?

I havent checked it all the way through.... life is too short, but doubtless any tiny problem will have been looked for and pointed out by...Farage?... so maybe silence from him means nowt is wrong? Or maybe he is too shame faced to look too close? these accounts relate to the time he had some of his salary docked to recoup misspent funds. Im sure we all agree that checks need to be done, and politicians should not be simply trusted to “do the right thing”. Thanks for the proof of that Mr Farage.

The whole point of your post spardo is that had we have come out of the EU when the vote was first taken then they would still have been too young to vote, you may as well say if Brexit gets elongated for another two years then 14 yo kids will be eligible, the problem being they are not old enough or wise enough to realise the consequences of there actions, my thoughts but obviously not yours, Buzzer.

I’m not going to speak for him, and he can correct me I’m wrong, but what I picked up from Spardo’s post was that the reactionary geriatrics that voted Leave will be long gone by the time the generation that has to take the brunt of Brexit have to live with the consequences of it.

Age doesn`t automatically confer wisdom.

If it I did then I might find that crossword puzzles were getting easier, rather than harder.

We have, endlessly, and round and round we go, really Buzzer how many times has the same question to be answered?

And did you really think that we would leave the EU the day after the referendum, Really? Was it not explained that it would take time?

So, if not, it boils down to how many youngsters came of age between June 2016 and March 2019. I don’t know, but I’m willing to bet that it is pretty near the figure I quoted.

So, what are you advocating in your brave new world? No more elections of any kind? Some democracy.
