Eu referendum whats your vote

This is a shot of the same unit probably about month earlier on the day we brought it back to our depot at Milnthorpe, we even had to fit the extra fuel tank on the O/side ! Cheers Bewick.

Same motor stood at Kendal loaded with coil for Stelrad in Scotland.

Sorry to go off thread Buzzer but that’s a beautiful Borderer, Bewick how old is that picture?

43 years ago circa October 1973 “ERF MAN” I had to pay £250 in “readies” :frowning: over list to get that unit as they were so short to come by at that time, and it was probably the worst Borderer we ever had, Group axle,6:600 DB box, 220 ■■■■■■■ AND NO POWER STEERING. I was desperate for a couple of new units for our 24hr operations and this unit was put to work on our Daventry trunk and then it ran to Merseyside or to West ■■■■■■■ during the day, it did a tremendous mileage during the 18 months we ran it but it had a couple of gearbox rebuilds and work on the Group hub reductions as well. I was glad to see the back of it I can tell you ! Cheers Bewick.

Hi Dennis, I bet you could fit oil seals in that awfull hub reduction crap axle blind folded,   Regards Larry.

Aye Larry they were not up to the job behind the ■■■■■■■ 220 or the LXB 240 but we had no trouble with them in the 180LXB Seddons 32/4’s.Cheers Dennis.

It sure was “EMT” “brand spanking” stood in the depot at Milnthorpe waiting to go into service ! Cheers Bewick.

It made me chuckle!

Sorry to haul the thread back on topic but OssieD that is one powerfull bit of research. A powerfull argument that we MUST get the control of our own Country back.

Who said that the war is over?

David.

Think we have gone off track here a bit Gentlemen as this thread really should only be about the vote on the EU and what surrounds that subject and there are plenty of other channels to follow items about trucks past and present on TNUK so lets try and stick to the very important subject of the future of all of us during and after the decision that faces us right now, thank you Buzzer.

Back on track from what I gather on my travels DK is praying for a leave vote presumably because once the ball is rolling we and others will join in and put this EU where it belongs. In history books!

Lets sincerely hope so, and you better not go down that road matey, Buzzer

Some say that was after he’d read all the EU topics on here but before Gordon Brown had taken over his in campaign to make it sound more credible. His confidence levels have now apparently returned to normal after Brown’s speech.Although for some reason no one seems to have asked the question if Brown thinks the EU is so good why didn’t he join the zb Euro zone when he had the chance. :open_mouth: :smiling_imp:

I was in business, one way or another, from buying my first lorry in 1969, until a phone call one Friday evening in 2008 to my Amtrak depot to tell me that the bank had pulled the plug…

I learnt very early on never to ‘slag’ the opposition. Tell the customer, honestly, what you can achieve for them. They can make a decision based on what you do and what you charge. Then always do what you said you would. Bewick is a star example of exactly that, I think. For myself, after leaving Saudi, I had the Amtrak franchise for 20 years, and usually kept customers who could have got a cheaper service.

Politicians seem not to have learned that lesson. Perhaps because most of them have never been in business! If you promise things, then don’t deliver, but worse, pretend that you have. If you say that the other side is lying, and the other side say you are lying…

How quickly do we come to the conclusion that they’re all liars!

John.

The EU is a broken article beyond repair and the best thing to do with things in that state is to get rid of it. We need to leave before it all implodes and makes it much more difficult to recover from the consequences.

I’ve watched Brexit the movie last Sunday, bit of an eye opener there…

Cheers, Patrick

I really hope that’s saying if the EU wants a trade war we’ll give them one.Which is what we should have done in 1973 instead of joining the scam. :bulb:
