Eu referendum whats your vote

OssieD:
Believe me I knew someone who did get two as did many of her friends at uni, she wouldn’t have used the two votes as it was not her way, but couldn’t speak for others.

My understanding is that you can be registered to vote in 2 different places, for instance a university student may be registered to vote in their home town and where the university is, in those circumstances you can choose where to vote but legally you can only vote once.
Although you can be registered to vote in 2 different places you can’t legally vote in both places for the same election.

As for whether or not checks are made, I’ve no idea but given todays technology I would hope so.

Now “call me Dave” has got the wind up as there does seem to be a bit of a surge for the OUT vote lets hope it stays like that and we exit, now he is slandering Boris as he thinks he is after his job. Andrew Neil could not get the better of Nigel Farage when he interviewed him this week I thought Nigel was good as he had all the figures in his head and no looking at notes and had instant answers all the way through, Buzzer

Why would I give you a percentage of my salary to give some away, then give me back the rest as you think fit, rather than what I want to spend it on?

I can understand tax for infrastructure, but not simply as ‘we’re cleverer than you and can spend your money better than you can!’
John.

Is this really for us. :bulb:

Evening all,

Now I am a simple fellow…had a day off today…and with cash in my pocket took myself away to the Lorry Show at Gaydon…

Met our friends Jazzandy, and Robert 1952, and had a good few hours reflecting on just how much effort our car industry wasted on projects that were “simply not up to scratch” in the European, let alone World markets, (and in so doing destroyed our commercial vehicle industry)…but its a good museum at Gaydon…Untill one reflects on the absolute total waste of effort over the 60s, through to 90s period by our “Heads of Industry”…

Then on the way back I stop for a comfort break, at Warwick services…(aged plumbing d`ont you know)…and as ever have a brief hobble around the lorry park…8 from Hungary, 5 from Czech, 2 from Portugal, 4 from France, (but Romanian plates on the units), 2 Lithuanian, 2 Latvian, 3 Irish, 2 Romanian, 2 UK , (and rough lookers at that), 1 Italian…

Now I know its not indicative, or scientific, or even well reasoned…but looking at the Satellite dishes on almost every Eastern European lorry, I would surmise that our dear UK was their ultimate destination…So would it be unreasonable to assume that we are importing far more from the EU than we are exporting?..of course it is NOT…the actual figures say so!..But where in the increasingly stupid arguments being put forward by each side of the debate do these figures actually appear?..They do not!

Who needs who more?

But I fear that like the demise of our manufacturing industry, much down to inept management…then we as a country are poorly served by our elected politicians…and in this debate, and its eventual outcome, from either side I cannot see any one individual whom I would consider had any vision for our nation, strong enough to really drive it forward…

Can you■■?

I hope that you can.

Carryfast is quite correct to post the details about the Group of Spenelli…Why have our politicians, from either side, ever mentioned this well known Euro politico harmonisation group…I wonder why!

Cheerio for now.

I’d guess a Hoey led Labour and a Farage/David Davis Con/UKIP co alition would be as good as it gets. Then get back where we belong in EFTA and trade on our terms not Germany’s or China’s bearing in mind that the priority is ■■■■■ imports not try to export coal to newcastle. On the basis that now it’s for real no second chances sink or swim. But I don’t think they’ll get us out without kicking out Cameron ‘before’ the referendum. :bulb:

Peugeot closed its Ryton (was Rootes Group) plant and moved production to Slovakia with EU grant.
British Army’s new Ajax fighting vehicles to be built in SPAIN using SWEDISH steel at the request of the EU to support jobs in Spain with EU grant, rather than Wales.
Dyson gone to Malaysia, with an EU loan.
Crown Closures, Bournemouth (Was METAL BOX), gone to Poland with EU grant, once employed 1,200.

Sekisui Alveo said production at its Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park foam plant will relocate production to Roermond in the Netherlands, with yet EU funding.
Hoover Merthyr factory moved out of UK to Czech Republic and the Far East by Italian company Candy with EU backing.
ICI integration into Holland’s AkzoNobel with EU bank loan and within days of the merger, several factories in the UK, were closed, eliminating 3,500 jobs.
Boots sold to Italians Stefano Pessina who have based their HQ in Switzerland to avoid tax to the tune of £80 million a year, using an EU loan for the purchase.
JDS Uniphase run by two Dutch men, bought up companies in the UK with £20 million in EU ‘regeneration’ grants, created a pollution nightmare and just closed it all down leaving 1,200 out of work and an environmental clean-up paid for by the UK tax-payer. They also raided the pension fund and drained it dry.
UK airports are now owned by a Spanish company.
Scottish Power is owned by a Spanish company.
Most London buses are run by Spanish and German companies. The Hinkley Point C nuclear power station to be built by French company EDF, part owned by the French government, using cheap Chinese steel that has catastrophically failed in other nuclear installations. Now EDF say the costs will be double or more and it will be very late even if it does come online.
Swindon was once our producer of rail locomotives and rolling stock. Not any more, it’s Bombardier in Derby and due to their losses in the aviation market, that could see the end of the British railways manufacturing altogether even though Bombardier had EU grants to keep Derby going which they diverted to their loss-making aviation side in Canada.
39% of British invention patents have been passed to foreign companies, many of them in the EU The Mini cars that Cameron stood in front of as an example of British engineering, are built by BMW mostly in Holland and Austria.
Camerons campaign bus was made in Germany even though we have Plaxton, Optare, Bluebird, Dennis etc., in the UK.
The bicycle for the Greens was made in the far east, not by Raleigh UK but then they are probably going to move to the Netherlands too as they have said recently.
Anyone who thinks the EU is good for British industry or any other business simply hasn’t paid attention to what has been systematically asset-stripped from the UK.
Name me one major technology company still running in the UK?
I haven’t even detailed our non-existent fishing industry the EU paid to destroy, nor the farmers being paid NOT to produce food they could sell for more than they get paid to do nothing, so don’t even go there.
I haven’t mentioned what it costs us to be asset-stripped like this, nor have I mentioned immigration, nor the risk to our security either
if control of our armed forces is passed to Brussels or Germany.
Find something that’s gone the other way,
I’ve looked and I just can’t.anything
If you think the EU is a good idea,
1 … You haven’t read the party manifesto of The European Peoples’ Party.
2 … You haven’t had to deal with EU petty bureaucracy tearing your business down.
3 … You basically don’t care about British Industry

Well said OssieD

What has the EU done for British Industry?

That’s the tip of the iceberg taken as a total of the wholesale shift of industry from UK mostly to Germany from the 1970’s such as Ford and GM eventually resulting in the closure of Daghenham and Luton in favour of Cologne and Russelsheim. Then Transit production to Turkey. While what we’ve got left is mostly just assembly operations of foreign manufactured components.

Well said OssieD. This is the info the exit campaign should be posting on their tv slot. The NHS is not the only reason for leaving the EU, l think a broader attack on all of the issues would have more affect on people’s opinions rather than concentrating one point. When l first saw the program I was, and still am, totally UNDERWHELMED by its IMO, boring content. I don’t wish to belittle what is happening with the NHS, but it isn’t the only issue. Regards Kev

I’ll add another one Imperial Tobacco Ltd in Nottingham closed last month all production moved to Poland
With the loss of 547 jobs including myself
This was mainly down to EU legislation

Well said Gaz ! There is only one way to vote and that is O–U–T !! Out ! Cheers Bewick.

That’ll do Dennis, has it got power steering? All the Atkis we had until "N"reg had Armstrong Power, l could cope then but 40 years has taken it’s toll on the shoulders.  Regards Kev.

ERF MAN:
Sorry to go off thread Buzzer but that’s a beautiful Borderer, Bewick how old is that picture?

43 years ago circa October 1973 “ERF MAN” I had to pay £250 in “readies” :frowning: over list to get that unit as they were so short to come by at that time, and it was probably the worst Borderer we ever had, Group axle,6:600 DB box, 220 ■■■■■■■ AND NO POWER STEERING. I was desperate for a couple of new units for our 24hr operations and this unit was put to work on our Daventry trunk and then it ran to Merseyside or to West ■■■■■■■ during the day, it did a tremendous mileage during the 18 months we ran it but it had a couple of gearbox rebuilds and work on the Group hub reductions as well. I was glad to see the back of it I can tell you ! Cheers Bewick.
