What’s going on?
I’m not complaining. I’m just wondering.
Have we all given up on making our Leave/Remain points? Have we all just accepted that what will be, will be?
Been listening to your Doris Day albums again?
Edit. Not meaning to sound sharp BTW.

Nothing to do with Doris Day. (Yeah, I know, she shuffled off today).
There just seems to be a recognition that whatever happens, it’s just going to happen.
Not sure if the upcoming Euro Elections will make any difference.

The current inter party talks should have been started years ago. There is too short a time and positions have become too intrenched for any good to come from them now.
Euro elections may cause ructions but they’ll be nought compared to any other domestic votes id they come up soon.
Maybe Brenda from Bristol should sharpen her pencil stub.
I’ve no crystal ball but almost anything is possible in the next year.

I think there’s going to be a shock result with the euro elections, and it will be close between Farage’s Brexit party and a labour lead remain, but the shock won’t be there.
Brexit has dragged out far too long, a deal should have been constructed within 6 months of us voting to leave, and we work from that, but instead every deal put forward has been knocked back in an attempt to delay the leave process, so as we end up where we are today, still in the EU and have the EU elections coming up.
For many years Britain has been a thorn in the side of the EU, with its non conformity and refusal to accept everything the EU is offering, and with the EU elections comes a new parliament and the man to lead that will be Blair.
And if Blair gets to lead hopefully you’ll regret every vote cast to remain, as Tusk said ‘there’s a special kind of hell”

Agreed.
So what is the point of wasting time, energy and expense on all the inter-party meetings and discussions anyway? Whatever compromises and agreements are made in The Houses or behind closed doors, whatever Red Lines are abandoned and whatever new proposals are put forward, the EU leaders have repeatedly stated that there can be no more negotiation - the deal on the table is the final and only one, take it or leave it.
Do they not understand that?

Well, apparently, they DON’T understand that. Or maybe they’re burying their heads in the sand, hoping the problem’s going to disappear.
I don’t know how it was with you guys. but when I got divorced I collected all my personal stuff, sorted out the messy legal stuff, and left. I didn’t stay in the house for another three years looking for a better deal, (God, that would’ve been fun), I just left.
We shouldn’t have voted Leave, but, unfortunately, we did. And the result of that? Parliament has exposed itself as a bunch of headless chickens unable to cope with following through on the will of the people.
Theresa has painted herself into a corner. She has two options. Either leave, as in LEAVE (whether or not she get’s her deal approved), or revoke Article 50 and carry on as things were before the Referendum.
Revoking Article 50 would be political suicide. The Tory’s would come out of it with zero credibility. It would be in the best interest of the Nation if they did cancel Brexit, but since when have the Tory’s (or any political party) put the Nation’s interest first?
Survival and retaining power is their priority. I honestly despair at the incompetence of this Government.
What a mess David Cameron dumped us into.
The U.K. should never have joined the EU, we could have worked with the EU as does Switzerland and Norway, maintaining our identity and laws. But no the greed of the political elite saw the EU and it’s ethics as a way to better themselves, through its capitalist idealism camouflaged as socialism.
Anyone who has doubts of how the EU elite are geared only have to look back at the Blair years and his New Labour.
British politicians have dragged this out and now we have the EU elections, and the man to win the leadership will be Blair, he ■■■■■■ this country up before, he’ll do it again only the next time he’ll have a lot more power, we needed a deal putting on the table months ago with a take it or leave it option, Blair won’t let that happen he’ll entangle us in yet more laws.
Leave means leave not ■■■■ about neither Labour or Conservative have ever done anything good for this country
Listening to the early morning news on the BBC did I hear correctly apparently British Steel need to borrow 750 grand from the government for Brexit related issues, they have already had 1 million to pay the EU, WTF is that for. This EU machine is just a huge machine using liposuction for extracting money and starving industry of its life blood, the ones who pay in that is.
Then there is the question of us actually leaving and in the next breath they are talking about the Summer recess, this should be put on hold until we leave Grumpy Dad you are right we need to stop ■■■■■■■ about and sort the job out Buzzer.
BTW British Steel apparently only has 4500 workers so why this massive bill from the EU.

Fines for exceeding EU Emissions targets apparently. So not Brexit related issues at all but very much EU related, but when did the Establishment ever miss an opportunity to get its message across that the plebs just don’t know their own mind so it’s better for them to be told the official policy? Now I just wonder what we can dig up about who paid for the German, Swedish etc Steel industries EU fines or did they just say: ‘■■■■■■■■ to this’, like most of the EU counties individually say to any EU diktat. Plenty of muddy waters old Lucifer will be trying to keep under wraps if it gets its new sinecure.

The EU has NOT asked for money from British Steel.
The loan requested by B.S. is to cover their alledged extra costs from trading in the shadow of Brexit. The extra costs may be controversial, but it’s nothing to do with extra money going to Europe.
4,500 jobs at BS plus another 15,000 in supporting companies.

British Steel has asked for a £75 million taxpayer load from the government to prevent it going into administration as early as this week. Insolvency accountancy practitioners are already on standby. No mention of Brexit in any reports I have read. The biggest plant that would be affected by the company failing is Scunthorpe.
I heard no mention of EU fines or payments either on this mornings reports.
Dexxy, sorry to hear of your divorce.Thats the point I made earlier on,but was shot down by someone who uses a whole lot of big words, that I (a),cant understand, and (b),couldn
t care to find out!
A divorce is a divorce, you make your deals(or rather the bandits with the initials after their name,my learned friends),make the deals, and you follow them.
If you want out, fair enough you want out,but with leaving, goes the dinners, the naughty bits, the washing/ironing etc.
You (UK) cant have their cake and eat it
As i expected not just us here who want Brexit, Buzzer

It has also been struggling with the prolonged weakness of sterling since the EU referendum in June 2016 and the escalating US-China trade war.

British Steel seeks government loan for 'Brexit issues' - BBC News
I have now had time to read some more and “Brexit uncertainty” is cited as one reason. The company had also been loaned £120 million last week by the government to pay its dues to the “EU Climate Credits Scheme”. This loan was described as a short-term bridge facility. The British Steel name was revived in 2016 when Greybull Capital bought Tata Steel Europe’s loss-making long products division for £1. So the business was in serious trouble before the 2016 referendum. But never mind, the BBC will make out that it’s all because of Brexit, irrespective of the financial history of the business. And how the escalating US-China trade war impacts upon a Scunthorpe steel works that makes railway lines for Network Rail is beyond me.
As I understand it all the old “dirty” industries were allowed a certain number of pollution credits. British Steel sold theirs and hoped to buy some more, cheaper, later. The gamble hasn’t worked. So looking at Cav551’s post, it isn’t a case of the UK being singled out at all. If other countries’ industries choose not to gamble with their CO2 allowances, so be it.
And relistening to BBC R4 Today programme from this morning, 1hr32 in Nick Robinson said B.S. were citing “Brexit issues” as being part of the reason for asking for a loan. That’s what I was thinking of when I posted previously.
So no reason for me going into the confessional.
(Not for my prev post anyway!)

Well we can say that Minna wants to get out.
Dunno about her reasoning though.
Wiki says Finland has about a 5% immigrant population? About half that of the UK??
And financially the Fins are doing OK. GDP per capita better than Germany’s.
The £50 prize can’t have been merely for following the editorial stance of the paper can it?
