Ro = Rowena
You may have wondered why I’ve been signing off as Ro instead of Robert; well I changed my name to Rowena by deed-poll at the start of this year when I transgendered and I am now identified by that name.
Quite a few of you on here actually know me in person so I sort of owe it to you to be open about this so that when we meet at truck shows there are no awkward surprises. Most people don’t give a hoot so it’s no big deal but nonetheless I feel it’s time to come clean.
One of the reasons I hesitated to advertise the fact on here is that I didn’t want to endure tedious trolling. Actually, in real life, I have spent the last seven months living fully as a trans-female and living life to the full, with absolutely no problems whatsoever, so I no longer anticipate negativity on TN and in any case I’m no offence junkie (also, being a mod does give me some powers of instant deletion)!
So, that off my chest, just wish me luck because I’m here to stay!
Stay safe.
Rowena
This morning i was thinking about a sale i visited a good few years ago, Pat Kennets Photo collection was for sale after he passed away, i wonder if it contained any shots of the erf from the Eurotests etc. May be an avenue to search if the buyer is known?
Did wonder about the Ro sign offs, all the best Rowena.

Thanks for that Steve! And a very good lead indeed , I’d say, on the ERF front. Pat clearly had a real soft spot for the European he tested in '75 and the press photos we have now will be just the ones TRUCK mag selected for the Euro-Test copy. He will undoubtedly have had other pictures, even if only of that particular vehicle. If anyone knows where Pat Kennett’s photo collection went, we’d be glad to hear of it on here.

Hi Rowena
Good luck for the future, wishing you all the best
RJ
Does Dean still call you “chap”, I wonder?
Joking aside, good luck with things, whatever form they may take.
Edit- I’ve always thought, “Blimey, he’s had a full life.” I did not know the half of it! Keep at it mate.

Yes, it multiplies the ‘full life’ alright! And Dean’ (who’s known for some time now) will have to switch to ‘chap-ess’!
Cheers!

Rowerf suits you better all the very best ro
many thanks, Mike! Yes, Rowerf would do nicely!
I remember meeting you at a talk I gave to the Long Haul Club two or three years back.
I know…days gone and now we ALL know about what would be or what could be…but so many
years ago…the more or less original building of what once was “■■■■■■■ DISTRIBUTOR BELGIUM”
who since 1969 started with assembly (out of CKD-kits) the 5MW-series (around thirty chassis known)
proceeded with the EUROPEAN ERF and about fifteen chassis known in Belgium. At first, at the left
or more West side of the location, Scania-Vabis was centralised with sales and service, from the early
beginnings from a house with sheds etc…later with expansion when the ■■■■■■■■■ White-, Autocar-,
and eventually ERF-assembly and sales started.
The surface to assemble and with the offices to make things possible were for those years impressive.

I’ve often wondered what those premises looked like! Perhaps we can print out a time-machine and go back to have a look at the activity!

That’s really good. And you’ve weathered it properly too! Most impressive . Intrigued to know why the choice of a 10m (33’) tilt rather than a 12m (40’) one.
