For NGC fans: there are a couple of items on ebay this morning, I notice. The brochure contains NGC material. And no, I don’t have any vested interest! Robert

Another one on ebay. This would have been taken in transit between ■■■■■■■ and Pountain, so possibly when Vee & In-line Diesels had it. Robert

One for DEANB! This pic of UGE is on ebay this morning. Funny how that old RHD non-NGC example keeps popping up again and again  . But it’s such an irresistible and photogenic lorry that we do like to see it on here, with its 6x4 MDC chassis and 7MW (or 8MW) cab.

At first glance this looks like a picture we already have on here, but it isn’t! It’s a new one, though it may well have been taken by the same person at a slightly different time. :sunglasses:

Been sent a clearer version of this Van Steenbergen picture. Enjoy! Robert

I’ve been sent a very good picture of the Kooy NGC from Holland with permission to use it in bk3 along with a new ERF promo pic. I’ll endeavour to get them slipped into the back of the book! Cheers, Robert

I am informed that there is a new book in Holland called 100 Years of Transport around Dordrecht by Werner Pap. It includes at least one new picture of an NGC at work  . One to look out for. Robert

Thought this promo pic was a new one at first, but it’s just a much clearing copy of one we had from a Continental magazine. Enjoy all the same! Robert :sunglasses:

Piet Kooy’s first wagon in 1968. Robert

Thought it was an F86 at first, but the filename gives the lie to that! A quick look around reveals that it is an International VCO 190. Is that home-made nesting box off something else?

Yes, International, well-detectived there! And yes, probably home-made or locally made pigeon loft! Robert

A standard VCO sleeper:

Is the back panel on the nest box the original, or is it from that East European make which will not come into my head?

Another thought- Volvo’s F88 was aimed at the US market originally, and bears a resemblance to the GMC crackerbox and the Inter DCO 405. Does a similar line of thought explain the similarity between this International and the F86?

The cab has been used by at least two other truckmakers: Diamond Reo and Hendrickson, both also represented in Holland, by Beers (indeed Scania-Vabis) and Hendrickson themselves.

Morning all! I’ve had an interesting communication from one of our most treasured contributors, Hans Witte in Holland. He has more to say about a forthcoming Dutch model kit of the ERF NGC. I have alerted Rikki to this post lest it sail too close to the advertising rules but suffice it to say that I have no vested interest, only an interest in keeping readers informed about NGC developments generally. Robert

ERF NGC 420 kit 1:50

PKC from Holland announces a high quality white metal kit in 1:50 scale of the ERF NGC, due to appear next spring.

After a year of research and manufacture of the masters, the ERF is now in the end of the development process and will be produced in the coming months. The pictures of the prototype mock-up already show the high quality and many authentic details of the European. The kit will consist of around 120 parts, most in white metal. The cab comes in resin, which material has a very smooth finish and enables fine and sharp detailing. There are many options to finish the model (different sun visors, two front bumpers, 4 mirror sets, two couplings etc.). A Middle East accessories set is also planned, with upright air inlet stacks and matching filter housing, roof air con unit and straight rear mudguards.

To realise such a high quality kit, PKC works together with specialised partners and other manufacturers; among them is Tekno who delivers the steerable front axle, tires and part of the drive train. 3D design and printing is used for the grille and ERF logo insert, the fuel tank and the wheels (including the covers with oval ERF logo and the Kirkstall hub reduction).
There will also be a choice of decal sets from Dutch, Belgian and English haulage companies who ran the European.
First deliveries of the kit can be expected next spring. During the production process PKC will supply more pictures and information.

The last picture shows another PKC novelty: the kit of a classic wide-spread 12,20 metre flatbed trailer which is available from now on. This trailer is part of a ‘universal trailer and drawbar program’ which will be introduced in stages. Still to come: narrow-spread tandems, three axle tridems with double tires and steel springs and a version with early super-single wheels and tires on air suspension. A unique feature from PKC is the system of how the trailer can easily be shortened to any length, while the axles can be fitted in any position.
More info: p.kievit@upcmail.nl

PKC is owned by Peter de Kievit, who is responsible for the production and trading of the kits. Hans Witte does most of the research and development of the masters and proto types, Arjan van der Sande produces 3D drawings and prints.

Peter drives the huge container cranes at the APM (Maersk) terminal in the port of Rotterdam. Arjan is an engineer in the fine mechanical industry at VDL in Eindhoven. Hans is 3 years in pension, he is a gifted modeller but also writes about trucks (and models) in books and magazines. He also makes truck drawings and paintings.

That looks like a quality model Robert. I have spoken with Peter in the past.

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all ye ERF NGC fanciers! Cheers, Robert
