ERF EC SERIES...still plenty about

These are still running, but not with Shirleys, they had 3 with Detroit 60 series rated at 430 BHP one of the best engines for pulling I have ever driven.

here s a picture of my new wagon at work, a 10 year old ERF EC11. only got a 380 horse ■■■■■■■ in it but its far better than my old DAF

besides in the current financial situation my boss seems to think its better spending £8k on a wagon and not having to worry about it earning just to keep up withthe repayments, and when a decent secondhand wagon will do the job equally as well as the latest all singing all dancing Scania/ Merc/ Daf/ MAN/ Iveco

depending on how well you get on with the fitters down at your local erf/man dealership have a word in the ear of the fitter with access to the garage laptop
ask him nicely or grease his palm with some folding stuff and a few clicks of the mouse later you now have a 405 ec11 that will pull the side off a house

i had this done on an ec11 that i used to drive via the head fitter at the firm i was working for at the time he owed me a favour or three

i have some pics somewhere will throw them up when i get five minutes
:sunglasses:

cheers for that info

had to take it in for its 6 weekly inspection this afternoon so asked the chap if there was any chance off upping the power like you said and he said not a problem a quick session with the laptop and doofah ,and its now a lot better, pulls really good and actually seems to blow less black smoke than before when pulling away and the best bit of all, its going to cost me a case of magners

I took a 525bhp Twinsplitter Olympic out on L plates, first artic i ever drove! We picked a trailer off the Boat in Holyhead and the owner said… “Right, thats me off to be, give me a shout when u get to Coventry!”…

Will try dig out some pics, he had 2 brown ones with SKID STEER SERVICES and one EC11 Olympic in GWYNEDD SHIPPING colours, driven for years by Mark “MY MATE” Robinson, a good friend of mine!

as promised ■■■■■ pics though my former steed

just loaded part of a shotblasting machine out of leeds

when we was shifting 20 metre quick bridges

Albeit with a new owner, this was the first truck i had after passing my test in 2001. 350 ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ Happy days. I was like a dog with 2 ■■■■■. It went like a train. Sadly i only had it 6 weeks and was then moved on to a 380 Scania. Strangely i dint arf moan!

alfie johnson used to drive one o them for shirleys

The black Milers recovery EC15 is i think the ERF Cat demonstrator which was displayed at Truckfest when it was new some years back, and was actually 550 bhp, not 500. it was tested by TRUCKING INTERNATIONAL magazine and they described the power as awsome!

My old boss still runs 4 or 5 EC11 & 14’s…says if it wasn’t for the drivers complaining he would buy another few of them. Best model of ERF he has ever ran, economical & reliable. My days with him were A, B & C Series motors which he still has. The M reg EC14 is on its way to Germany now.

one i was shunting with a few weeks back…

to be fair not a bad motor in reality its just that you have to compare cab comfort with the volvos and dafs on the road.

Had this today W reg EC11. Compared to the European rivals, they were decades behind interior and exterior design, great engine though.

Hi Guys
Ok I know Mine was an E series but hey she was dead smart in 1991 when new , great thread though and I wish she`d have been a 500 like some of yours .

i thought the ECX was a great looking wagon, heres one i had from new.

Hi All,

Worked for an ERF dealer for a while and was there for the launch of the ECX, this was the 1st one I sold to Danevalley - Macclesfield

And this one, I had the pleasure of driving - but not far though - It was produced by ERF R&D for the Frankfurt show in 2000or 2001 - to go on the MAN stand when they had bought ERF. Produced in left hand drive and with loads of extras inside. The only problem was that the steering was not set up properly, so it could not be driven on the road, had to lowload it from Middlewich to Stoke for our launch event at Brittania stadium. Nearly dropped it off the side of the lowlaoder due to the steering, so lucky it servived !!!
