ERF EC SERIES...still plenty about

not many of these about…EC15 in preston.

nicely turned out EC11 in coventry…

very nice 6 wheeled rigid on waste paint collection in birmingham.

I had an EC10 4 wheeler as my first, twin split box. I loved it. Then an EC14 that went like a train and the last one was an EC11 6 wheeler. I begged for an olympic, and he bought me an FM12 which i disliked purely based on the fact it wasn’t a ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ So i went out and bought my own, a scania■■? I’ll see if i can find a picture of the EC11.

If I’m not mistaken, that EC15 is the one Iddons used to run, and is the basis of the Corgi model (with the stepframe curtainsider)

Never seen an EC15 what bhp were they?

id say 500bhp judgeing by the pusey script on the cab :grimacing:

yep…ex kp iddons and it is 500 bhp…add any more pics if you have any…i’ll see if i can find any more.

Didn’t ERF fit a big 500+bhp detroit as well in EC series

ERF fitted quite a selection of big engines, they didn’t sell many though.
The EC15, with the 500 CAT; EC127, with Detroit 60 series, the largest version was a 500; the EC14 Celect, with ■■■■■■■ first at 500, AJA Smith had a few of those, then it went upto 525, Turners of Much Hoole still have one. They built a few for New Zealand with the ■■■■■■■ Signature at I believe 610, some of which were 8 wheelers rigged for drawbar.

i had a well used olympic, fantastic cab,i only used the top bunk once because me being a short arse i had trouble climbing back down because it was that high  ive still got the sausage shaped pillow that came with it somewhere.after that i ended up with a daf 85, : which was a backward step in my opinion.

was in a yard in killybegs s.ireland last week and these were parked up down the back, not sure if they are shunters or working on the road.

were three in total.

ERF also fitted the CAT C12 to a few.
This was mine, an EC12 with a C12 rated at 400bhp.
The BEST motor I have ever owned, great cab, great running gear, it had to go when we changed a contract due to only being a 4x2 40 tonner.

As a frequenter to the ■■■■■■■ factory in Darlington a few years ago,I can tell you that ■■■■■■■ did indeed turn out 525bhp 14 ltr engines. They also used a 600bhp engine in a Seddon Atkinson, which used to pull their show trailer.Talk about over the top!!!

s jones had several of those detroits on demo about 1996/7 one of the drivers gave an interview with one of the truck mags, when erf seen the article they pulled all the demos back

not 100% true mate. I WAS THAT DRIVER :astonished:

interview was at ferrbridge sevices with the erf rep. erf took em back as they found out that s jones was in touble financially and couldnt afford the new ones (ask simon)

i was on p+o ferrymasters traction at the time with the detroit. 2 weeks later i jacked s jones and went back to italy not long after that it went downhill because of in my opinion jim weir.

which new ones was that ?

dont 100% know as the erf rep was playing his cards close to his chest. but s jones had ordered 30 new ec11/12 but the finance company pulled the plug on the deal because of what was going on financially. thats all i know but when i left i was told that by simon and to be honest i could not fault him.
