Whether to sign it or not is everyone’s free choice, but why knock someone down when they’re trying to do something which could help you, among others?
Since you suspect he craves a “power trip” must he therefore be plied and pilloried in case he’s a thought criminal?
There’s so much of this type of scornful second-guessing taking place these days that society’s been driven insanely paranoid 1984 style way too much and for much too long. Perhaps George Orwell should have titled his book 2012.
It also reminds me of the pale criminal in Nietzsche’s Zarathustra who was judged by his motives and not his actions.

Have I got this right? You’re all signing a petition, in the hope of gaining 100,000 signatories, so that parliament can be invited to debate it - a topic they have already debated recently and are well aware of?
The intent is good indeed, but I do feel its all a bit of a waste time.
Proposer: “hello parliament we have 100k signatures, please could you debate better facilities (granted much needed) for lorry drivers?”.
Parliament: “Oh that old chestnut again, we did that one last year and its ongoing. You should see some new truck stops springing up over the next few years”.
Edit: typos

The debate after 100,000 signitures is just one of the positive outcomes which a petition could deliver.

Too many negative waves. Nevermind the reasons it won’t work but try to think about the reasons it will.
Campaigning for something isn’t only about winning the battle but it’s also about raising awareness.

This is another opportunity for people to make their veiws about this issue heard and keep the issue live.

Yes and I agree this is a positive development.
So let’s not back our sails whilst we’ve got the wind behind us.
Not signed because it’s my opinion that lorry drivers get exactly what they deserve.
The lorry parking area of every MSA that I stop at stinks of p1ss because drivers are too idle to walk a couple of hundred yards to use a proper toilet. The amount of litter in and around laybys is quite frankly disgusting, and before anyone blames car drivers, it’s just as bad at truckstops!
If you want decent facilities, try acting like decent human beings.

So you’re not signing because a small minority off lorry drivers litter and use the tarmac as a urinal, anybody would think all lorry drivers are the same

If only it was a small minority of lorry drivers. All drivers are not the same but it sadly isn’t a small minority who seem to want to mark their territory wherever they stop.

Just annoying being tarred with the same brush. Yes it does happen but nothing will ever get done about it so all the rest lose out

Yes, it’s called life but you don’t have to lose out, you can make your own choices.
Done & posted on my facebook page.
I have not signed because i feel it is a waste of time, the only way any government would take notice, is if everyone downed tools, they would have to listen, and to do that, we would all have to belong to a union, not the crap that purports to be a union, like now, but a union purely for transport drivers, run by drivers.
The French for example have very good Routiers ( truck stops ) and very good parking lay byes, with toilet facilities, away from the traffic, as does most of the sensible europeans, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, etc, etc.
So now look at our facilities ■■? If you look recently at the M25 for example, they have widened it, where are the extra parking facilities, and when its all finished and open, where the contractors are now sited, would they open them for parking…not on your nelly…thats how much they think of transport, and its nothing to do with the smell of ■■■■, or the bottles of it lying on the hard shoulder, or the rubbish strewn everywhere a trucker has been, maybe its because we are classed as the lowest form of human ( even with our forced upon certificates ), and the money is not worth spending, and if they did, would drivers attitudes change…i doubt it.
