came along the M4 today just going past membury westbound and a car crawled out of the services, there was a lorry in front and me doing 56 behind, cars going by on the middle lane so could not go anywhere so I carried on,the car driver totally misjudged the speed of our vehicles put his foot down but it was not enough to pull between us [only a little underpowered car]but he carried on forcing me out as I did not want to hit him but it came extremely close as I then had to avoid a car coming down the middle lane,he then had to drive up the hard shoulder to avoid being hit,he then pulled in behind me pulled out into the middle then outside lane and put his foot down again and disappeared as he went past he put his hand up in apology,i started thinking how much it must have crapped him up,he just did not think,i was going to say unbelievable but nothing surprises me about car drivers anymore
Tbf there’s some “unbelievable” driving from vehicles of all kinds…hgvs not excepted!

I agree with that
it’s hard to judge what people on sliproads are going to do sometimes
ideally, you should either be able to carry on at 56 or brake a little and whoever’s joining the road can adjust their speed accordingly
but some people just ■■■■ about, or like you say they get it wrong, it’s worse on shorter sliproads obviously
a few time’s I’ve ended up braking to really low speeds when there was no need or the person who’s joining has ended up on the hard shoulder
When approaching any slip road (well apart from the M25 as we are all nuts on their and usually drive as if making a break for freedom) I leave a very large gap between my self and the vehicle in front by easing off a tad, this then gives merging vehicles 3 options. Either to pull in front, pull behind or the most common option by BMW drivers to try and crash into you.
Just part of the fun really.
Course I will always help a Fiat 500 out as the occupant as we all know is going to be a definate shag and I live in the hope that one of these ladies will force themselves on me at some point in the forseable.
What about the r-soles at Chorley services on the M6 westbound exit, big signs saying hgv’s keep left (obviously cos of the hill on the exit) so they totally ignore that, and come up the fast lane slip road, fully freighted at about 30mph, and ■■■■ it up for evereyone.

Mad sod
The first part of this is spot on and precisely why I bought a dash cam for the BMW kamikaze (do they have a model called “the spirit wind?”)
Dipper_Dave!
Or Rover 75 (wannabe Jag) drivers, assuming they’re allowed on M-ways, are obliged to only use up to 3rd gear and do no more than 24mph, so they’re quite easy to avoid…

Yep, had a near miss in Haydock approaching Costco last week. I was in a rigid and an artic was coming other way with parked cars and parked van in front of him. Not a wide road, so I carry on, doing about 20 mph, and to my utter amazement he pulls out and aims at the ‘gap’. I hit the brakes and swerved onto the pavement narrowly missing a lampost, and his driver mirror folded on my front corner, and it its folder form slightly folded my mirror. My co-driver simply said “What■■?!!!” as the artic approached and “how did you miss him?!” as he scraped by. It certainly shook me up a bit as it was the last thing I expected from another HGV driver.
Ahh, but rigids should give way to artics… Everybody knows that.
Does the M6 really go west at Chorley
and there deceleration and acceleration lanes

Yep that gets me wound up to

That’s the one… I forgot which services this was that had the crawler lane.
Yep, quite a few R Soles don’t understand what the picture of a white lorry is in the left hand lane on that big blue sign

He’s on about Corley services between junction 3-4 on the M6 and not Chorley and they do have a sign up westbound saying HGV’S to use the left lane.

Thought the M6 went North/south.
Yeah, sorry,i meant Corley.
And if you look on your satnav redboxer (or a map) the bit of the M6 where Corley is goes East/West West/East.
So If I get on the M6 at J3 the signs will say M6 West/East.

Your splitting hairs now. The direction of the road at that point is east/ west. We all know that the M6 runs from north to south or vice versa generally, but as the Romans did not build it it tends to deviate.
