If the whole of europe is here in the uk,who is driving the trucks where they come from?Dont get me started on Somalians complaining that their 5 bed house in a posh suberb in London was not good enough,while the wife pops out the 7 th child.Can i illegally arrive in Australia,and get a house,free money and surf on Bondi beach while signing on to their free money for doing nothing.
The fact is, lots of british workers lay down the rules of what they will and wont do at work so with this kind of attituide its no wonder why foreigners are welcomed with open arms by employers.
You say no offence to orys but is that because you know him and realise he’s a decent person, despite where he comes from? Perharps if you got to know some more easten europeans you mite like them too, just a thought.

I’m not saying there arent unscrupilous employers that take advantage but dont tar all companies with the same brush. The bad ones are a minority nowadays

I used to be in favour of all eurpoeans being allowed to work wherever they want within the European boundaries, however this was before the recent downturn in the economy. I now think this was a mistake and this country is suffering financially for it. I remember a time when you had to clear borders/customs, its simpler now but does that make it better?

But your wages would be higher if they struggled to fill those extra positions with domestic labour.

People have very short memories in that we were all working for mainland European companies not too many years back as they paid more than British companies!

now,i dont work actually cheaper.I take what i get and that may be less then some Brits earn.That also may be less then some polish earn,but i dont do illegal,not against the Law and not against Company Policy,other do who earn more,or more careless.But im a guest here and i think i have to obey the Law,the Company Policy and Community decision,to get treathened as Guest.
OK,its not always liked to go back to a Bay when an Axle is overloaded or dont go out anymore if Timing isnt planed well,especially during Peak times,but i dont care.

OK, I agree that the laws of supply and demand mean more drivers for the same / less jobs = lower wages.
BUT, the wages are going that way anyway, do you hold it against someone who works for less because they can then get working tax credits? Some people prefer that because it means that they can do 36hrs at 6.70 per hour and then get their wages topped up by tax credits which may also enable them to claim other benefits such as free prescriptions, free dental, free school dinners etc.
As someone else said (Harry?), blame the game, it is wrong, but it’s here to stay, so get used to it.
Now, I have no kids, so not entitled to anything, I have to earn what I want, so obviously I want to earn as much as possible, but that doesn’t mean that everyone does.

I have never understood this argument. The eastern Europeans come here and do the same job as us for less wage, and I hate to say it but generally work harder with less moaning. They have families that they provide for, they drive a car like us. They go out like us. They eat like us and they drink like us, so why should we get paid more than they do? They have to live as we do. So are you saying it costs us more to live than them?
I agree wages are crap but if you don’t like it go and do another job if you can find one.
After all if it wasn’t for the Brits moaning and groaning, working to rule, taking 3 years off for having a stubbed toe, then suing the company we wouldn’t be in this position. Brits don’t go to Poland to do driving jobs because we wouldn’t hack it!
