My take on this. Hitch has made a delivery to a site where the regular forkie is Polish. Today, because the regular forkie is having some English lessons, the forkie who is new to both this company and Fork truck driving (and possibly didn’t want to be doing this) was moaning about his colleagues absence. In spite of the stand in forkies reluctance the delivery was made with no damage or incident but with regular apologies for the time taken and acknowledging the expertise of his Polish colleague. Just because it hasn’t happened at your place doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. The sheer numbers of them here has resulted in more competition for work leading to lower wages all round. I even have to listen to Poles complaining they can’t earn as much money these days!

No surprise that it’s East European drivers and Asian drivers etc referred to there and that has been the whole basis of British immigration policy for at least 60 years.
I think the reason for that is that the Brit employers are all about taking advantage of the labour markets in zb low wage countries which are just a reflection of the abilities of those countries’ workforces who’ve turned their own place into a zb place which they want to leave.
Maybe the same could now be said of this country which is slowly turning into something similar by a combination of a rigged labour market and a government which works against the interests of it’s own people.While the indigenous workforce just seems to have become resigned to that by either supporting the situation or deciding to vote with their feet as in moving to Canada etc,instead of fighting it.

Sorry to disapoint you, but with the amount of Poles, Russians, Ukrainians etc that are now arriving in Canada to be truck drivers its sometimes hard to tell which side of the Atlantic one is on in that respect.

The common factor seems to be that everywhere the British identity both here and in the colonies seems to be getting wiped out in favour of totally bonkers immigration policies.No surprise that it’s as easy,if not easier,for immigrants to find a job here than our own who get put onto workfare.

While the similar seems to apply in the colonies.As far as I know the British flag forms part of the Canadian provinces ones so maybe it’s about time the Canadians started to respect that by opening up their job market to British workers without any restrictions whatsoever while cutting back on the Poles and Russians etc.

Right so we can blame the British workforce of the 79s for screwing Britain as that’s when the rot started.
Er no.I think then they were mostly about fighting it wether by striking for better wages or calling for an end to immigration and repatriation of those already here.Even at the risk of being called racist.Although no suprise that those who supported immigration policy tried to turn it into a colour issue whereas at least they don’t have that excuse now that the issue includes East European immigration.

I can’t comment as personally I never had problems finding a well paid driving job in the uk and I actualy work harder for less money here than I did in the Uk. But just wanted to do something a bit different.

But as far as I know the US and Canada wouldn’t be the places they turned out to be if they’d have been left to the Natives instead of the British colonists moving in and taking over.Although it’s not surprising that those natives ( rightly ) wouldn’t see it that way.But then we’re Brits not Indians and you can bet that they’d have seen it from the colonists perspective if the boot had been on the other foot.

I actualy work harder for less money here than I did in the Uk.
Maybe that’s because of the effects of opening up the Canadian job market to those other countries cheap labour force.Instead of just keeping it British based.
