V8 Passion:
they need airlines cutting curtains slashing diesel nicked anything to [zb] them up

Is that this famous british standard of trucking?

JeffA:
I think it is quite accurate tho. If you throw in that they usually wear heavily skid-marked purple Y-fronts you are almost there.

I was living in Poland over quarter of century and haven’t seen too much of that there. But pink rhombus-marked sweaters or red cardigans seems to be british speciality

But I have to agree with mustache - there is a lot more people wearing mustache in Poland than here

Johnny foreigner is still getting in real terms 3 or 4 times what he would earn in Poland or wherever,

Forget. Nowadays if you earn twice as much here as you can in Poland as a class one driver you are really lucky man.

I’ve read through this thread a couple of times but have so far refrained from comment.

I will say only this much now; if it hadn’t been for the self-sacrifice of a lot of Poles most of you buggers would be speaking German now. :smiling_imp:

This thread is doing the image of British truck drivers no good at all. Would the BNP agitators kindly take their opinions elsewhere? :smiling_imp:

Orys, mine are a cream colour bought in a market in Klobuck, but i think Primark is fine.

Cream is a light bronze? That’s a good color if you eat a lot of cabbage

UKIP Boy, take your opinions and go forth and multiply.
You’re a typical example of why the country is in the mess it’s in.
W.T.F. has WW2 got to do with the debate?

Since joining the EU every aspect of our lives has changed for the worse. Almost ALL of our once great industries have gone because we joined the EU. And before anyone says we would be worse off out of it, just take a look at NORWAY. Norway isn’t in the EU and it’s been voted the best place to live for quality of life etc in the European Continent. If a country as small as Norway can have the best quality of life out of the EU then just think what might have been if we never joined.

The problems I see with what you say there is that the Germans are also members of the EU and the still actually manufacture things which other countries want. .

Something else the Germans didn’t do was open their borders in 2003, it was a specific Thatcherite-New-Labour policy to keep wages low and keep profits up.

Eh? What did the Poles do in World War 2 apart from put their hands up inside a fortnight? The Jerries chose to situate all the death camps in Poland and I can’t remember too many jews saying “The poles came to our help”. Apparantly the Poles favourite trick was to say to the jews on the trains “Throw us your gold and we will bring you water” then they’d take the gold and just walk off.

This isn’t about racism - if the Poles had come over and said “We will join with UK workers to keep wages high and conditions good” no-one would have minded.

Norway has something the world wants and pays a good price to get, Norway has no need to be in the EU, it can afford not to be.

Your history is very flawed, The Poles were very out gunned, but it is said they put up a good fight. I believe Churchill (not the insurance dog, the other one) had promised Poland that they would declared war if the Germans invaded, so they might have been hoping that we might have done that a bit sooner. Not all the death camps were in Poland, a couple of famous ones do spring to mind though.

You are right that indeed Poles did give Jews a bad time, perhaps they was general hatred towards them, perhaps also difficult times require such a mindset in order to survive. In the village where I live there are a few old people who were kids when the Germans arrived, one guy was at Auschwitz-Birkenau, still has his workers card and they also remember the Russians arriving, perhaps you would care to give them a history lesson?

Anyway back on Topic, well the government of the UK is a bit slow on the uptake, not really got the finger on the pulse of the nation, bah bah bah. At least the price of fuel has gone down, I pay 75p a litre at home and that includes road tax. so 99p I can live with for a month, although I might get in on the ferry without filling up here.

I was discussing Polish wages the other day with a relative. He does a 6 day week and is a supervisor in a warehouse and his take home is 2,000 zl, so thats about ÂŁ450 a month and that is also with nights shifts which he sometimes works, so its probably half the wage of my missus who works in the UK as a waitress. On the other hand the wifes sister is on ÂŁ300 take home and works 10 hours a day 5 days a week.

We have one truck driver in the family, so I will try to see what he makes, I know he does Poland - Norway, but perhaps Orys has some idea, I would be interested to know as well.

Polish wages have risen a bit, coupled with that and the state of Sterling it certainly is less attractive to come here to make money, Our money is mostly in Sterling, but we have a relative who works in a Kantor, so he gives us a good rate  Actually Polish relatives are great, we need a roof doing and a cousin is a roofer. her brother does electrics, in fact as the token Brit in the family I am the only useless one

Hm. Fought on all fronts as the one and only nation? Fought in Polish army, RAF, French army, US Army, Polish Underground Army and Soviet Army? Fought in Pacific and Asian area, in whole Europe, in Africa… Captured Monte Cassino , created best fighting squadron in RAF (303 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enigma_machine

So why it so strangely happened, that the Poles have the most trees in Yad Vashem? And why only this one lady: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irena_Sendler saved much more Jews that famous Oscar Schindler?

Well thanks for that Orys, thats some more knowledge I have gained from you, keep it up. If you are down south on visit back to the homeland, do pop by.

AFAIK to make 6000 as a C+E driver is nothing difficult. That gives you about 1500 pounds per month, basic. But UK is now much less atractive that it was before rather becouse pound, which was about 6 zł when I came here 3 years ago is now at about 4.23 zł (last time I checked).

Well thanks for that Orys, thats some more knowledge I have gained from you, keep it up. If you are down south on visit back to the homeland, do pop by.

You welcome.

And that what these, who are to lazy to read but likes to listen:
youtube.com/watch?v=KBwwFsKTJGs

Swedish band singing about that what Poles did in September.

Another example of a bit complicated way to rise hands:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westerplat … sterplatte

Germans repeatedly bombarded Westerplatte with naval and heavy field artillery along with dive-bombing raids by Junkers Ju 87 Stukas. Repeated attacks of 3500 German soldiers were repelled by the 180 Polish soldiers for seven days. On September 7th Major Henryk Sucharski decided to surrender due to lack of ammunition and supplies

I hope it’s enaugh for our ffriend?
