Sorry to bounce this back but did someone buy Elite out in the end as I passed one of their Scania’s pulling a box on the M6 last night, thought it was a touch odd after I read they went under?
Not gone under, just stopped running their own trucks at Southampton & Felixstow. (I think)

Elite have not gone under, no matter what you have read on here, they have closed 2 depots, Felixstowe and Southampton
they are still trading
That answers that one then, pay attention more I must
Looking at those pics n how many lorries have been returned my guess is this was forced upon elite buy its creditors
You don’t suddenly ring up Scania/Volvo hi works gone I bit quit can we send 200 lorries back
I’m sure more will follow n elite will deminish and be no more
It’s sad for the drivers but hopfuly they will find work
An average truck on finance/ lease with full r n m is around 1650 a month
I’d say each trucks using at least 800 quids worth of derv
Then you got say 2 k a month wages for driver then all the other bits
It’s no surprise these firms can’t make it pay any more
The haulage rates wich haulage company’s charge need to go up plane and simple otherwise we will never c an end to this
Carryfast could have all this doom and gloom about the recession and low haulage rates sorted in a matter of a few hours if only the world leaders and big business people were to listen to him.

at the age of those trucks, it is highly unlikely that they would still be on finance, they are all 4 series in the pics, and they stopped making them in 2004
yes, but, most finance companies will only lend money against a truck up until it is 9 years old
as these trucks in the picture are at the latest 2004, that would make them 9 years, so, therefore, very little, if any, finance outstanding
there are very few exceptions to the 9 year rule with truck finance, there are a couple of companies that will do a 10 year life span, but, are hard to find

Ok I agree that age truck would be highly unlikely to have outstanding finance
But y suddenly on the cuff do you shut depots and out units trls n drivers
The business was not making a profit and I imagine they are trying now to plug the holes in there sinking ship
But eventualy the holes will return and the ship will sink
It’s a sad day when any firm finishes and I don’t wish it on any one
But when you look at big firms such as this the management must of seen it coming quite a while ago I’d say at least over a year
I no I’m talking like there dead n burried and there not as of yet so praps I shud hold my tongue
Afaik they’re operating as a clearing house in Fxt/Soton. If their customers are happy for them to cover the work with subbies, out based trucks or the spot hire market then why not I suppose.
I’d be concerned about them lasting “30 days end of month” though in light of the speed with which the trucks went back.

was speaking to a mcr elite driver on wed he said basicly they have been carrying the southern depots for a while and they decided enough was enough and they pulled the plug
