Hi Andrew Aye will have to give myself a shake I started collecting Corgis and working with 1/50th code3 trucks last year so the scratchbuilding has been on the back burner but it’s all good fun and keeps me busy. Eddie.
Hi erfguy, I’ve just come across this thread, absolutely brilliant models and in particular one struck a chord.
Last April I wrote to T Brad Dunkin (he lives in California) asking permission for use of some of his collection on TruckNet, in the exchange he was interested in my whereabouts and finding it was Scotland he drew my attention to the pic below, I may have posted it before on TN, anyway here it is again and hopefully will help with the livery detail tho’ no doubt you will have come across the Albion in the flesh as it were.
Cheers
Oily
Hi Oily aye I have a few photos of her in Maitlands also a few of her in her original owners colours as below. Eddie.
I have finally found enough notion to look out this thread and update it a bit. Ill health coupled with this old age thing forced me into a bit of modelers block so I thought I would do a wee update. I finally managed to finish the Maitland’s Albion and it looks a lot better with the decals on kindly supplied by my buddy Robert. I have a box of 1/50thth spares for corgi/tekno/joal/etc bought in lots off E-bay so the J R Elliott Scania was built from bits and the fridge was originally a curtain sider I painted it and made my own decals on the computer using Crafty Computer paper and it turned out well a nice one off. The Magnum is a kit but again was a box of bits that a local chap handed in and one of the boxes contained 4 magnums in pieces so having built this one there is still a box full left but every chassis had been cut I don’t know what he had been trying to achieve. The Foden S83 cab is Scratchbuilt but the chassis is a Daf double drive so its a bitsa the stickers were off decal sheets.
This is one I am working on just now it has taken me a while as I keep losing notion and put it aside and slide into the big chair with a book. all that is to do is spray it so some of these days it will be finished.

What gearbox did it have in Eddie, How did it perform on the hills with the good old Gardner 5 Potter did you have to be naughty and tweek it a little bit, I used to tweek the old Atki I drove in the 50s, Never let me down mind, It was a bit slow but allways got there on time, Regards Larry.
Hi Larry I think it was a ZF 6speed and it had an Eaton 2speed back axle it actually went quite well and ultra reliable and easy on the juice. Eddie.

Well I would say that was a good combination of gearing IMO, Regards Larry.
Hi erfguy, what do you use for the tarpaulins as they are excellent models especially the coils as I used to rope and sheet them in port talbot all your work there is priceless ,do you use real or resin for the tarps cheers john
Hi smallcoal I normally use just thin material ie. old shirts or dressmaking material and dye it with Dylon Dyes whatever colour you need. For the plastic type drip sheets and tipper ones old thin waterproof cagouls are ideal. The hitches in the ropes are just made the same way as you would for real its just a bit more fiddly art shops usually have plenty of different thickness threads, string, etc to choose from. Nothing gets to the bin without being checked out to see if it would come in handy.
Thanks for your kind comments on them. Eddie.
Hi Eddie, long time no speak, I do hope you are keeping well my friend. Love seeing pictures of the ERF KV, its a smasher. I like the progress on your fire engine too, work in progress photos are always useful!
All the best

I admire all the patience and hard work you have put into your models Eddie. I have to admit, that as a boy, I only had one go with an air-fix kit which someone bought me, and didn’t finish it. I do enjoy looking at the model vehicles, that you and others build.
Cheers Dave.
Hello Eddie…I’ve just joined the forum and do a bit of modelling myself…but only via plastic kits.
I’ve spent the last quarter of an hour going through the thread, and they are all amazing.
The astonishing part of your builds are the proportions - they are spot on !
You’re my new hero !
Hello Dave and Ron thank you for the kind remarks that’s the third fire engine I have done but I have promised myself I wont do anymore as I hate doing the ladders they are a bugger to try and keep straight. So it is back to lorries I buy some Corgi and Tekno bits on Ebay and potter with them building Code 3 as they term it I am finishing one tonight its an Irish one Trevor Cathers a Scania and frige so seeing as he is Irish and a frige man I put a High Speed Diff in her to KEEP ER LIT. Will get a photo up soon. Eddie.
Right up my street looking forward to seeing it eddie it’s too bad he doesn’t keep his current fleet in the old livery
