As promised here’s a couple of photos of the STEYR in J&J CURRIE’s livery now I will have to think of a trailer for it. working on another two and nearly finished so they will be added shortly they are also 1/50th I was going to say whose they are but no it will keep you guessing. Eddie.
Got these two finished today the units are made up from a mixture of Corgi,Tekno,WSI,and Joal so you could call them DAF BITSA’s The trailers are scratchbuilt based on the Wilcox trailers that Iain Watt has behind his latest Daf’s
Spectacular stuff, I wouldn’t have the skill or patience. Fair play to you.
Lovely models Eddie, they get better and better all the way through. I am always amazed that you can create these fantastic models from bits of plasticard. You mentioned that J & J Currie pulled trailers for Currie European. I know a wee chap that could help you out with some Currie European trailer decals. I will see if he will do you a set.
Hello Robert I should have added in my comments above that without that wee man that does the decals them models would look B------ all, It’s them that that finishes the job off. Eddie.

Thanks for the kind offer Lurpak but I have loads photos, articles, drawings, catalogues I read all the modern and vintage mags. and check through them before chucking them to see if there is something to cut out etc.
Were you in caravan transport we get some from the Hull and Beverly areas coming up through here on the A76 and we have an old Tollbooth building sticks out a good bit and some of the bigger chalet type have their work cut out getting through there. Eddie.
Hi Eddie, sorry for the delay in replying, only just found your post again. yes I do haul caravans only the to touring ones 3 at a time.I have been up on that A76 from Dumfries to Kilmarnock then out to Irvine, it did catch me out the first time i went through and a few times since but that’s the joy of driving. It’s a lovely drive up there but wouldn’t fancy it the winter though. Anyway here’s a photo mine’s on the right it’s the best I can do from photobucket without uploading more photos cheers Ade
Hello Ade
Just discovered your post when digging this thread up I like your Daf nice smart motor and I have seen them on the 75/76 you have to watch the trees with those types o load’s I used to do Combine Harvesters out of Massey Fergusson at Kilmarnock trees and bridges were bad news.
I have just finished another code3 chop the Scania unit is again a Bitza it has a Tekno cab the chassis was found in the spares box and is of Unknown parentage the Fridge was a box van given a coat of repossesion white and a fridgeunit the decals were by someone from Paisley the fridge ones were okay but the cab ones turned into a disaster partly my blame so I ended up doing a set on the computer.Well after these 1/50th code3’s I feel a 1/24th scratchbuild coming on. Eddie.

Being an old retired driver I can appreciate these old lorries, they bring back memories of 60 years ago, when drivers cut there teeth with sheets and ropes, it makes one appreciate the quality and patience of Eddie’s work, he’s even got the knots right and even the spare sheets rolled up on top, just like we did in those years when drivers had pride in there work, instead of the robots they have driving today.
Some of us still have pride in our work.
… they,re all amazing !.., …, what a master
Ken.
Hears a couple of photos of the 24hr workshop had to visit Timberland and get another 8’ shelf it’s these code3 corgi & tekno stuff the place is filling up to quick.
Eddie.
Hi Eddie, I hope you are well mate. Good to see the ‘hub’ of your model building operation mate, plenty to look at there! Looking forward to seeing how your Albion turns out. Just finsihed a Merc Bull nose, and now I’m on with a Leyland T45 Logging lorry, with KFS cab.
cheers mate
Ian
Hi Eddie is that he mcGawn M reg 143 on the shelf, lets have a closeup if it is, it was driven by a mate of mine when it belonged to Gallachers ( & by me for a week when mine was off the road ) Thanks kenny
Hello Kenny
Here you are how’s things, nice wee motor this as are all McGawns they certainly get their moneys worth out of them at MAYBOLE only recently took some 4 series.
That had been a bad fire at Ramages saw it on here on Sat. Eddie.
Another cracking model Eddie we had that one & another 4x2 the same at Gallachers both of them went well,Gallacher bought them when a local tipper firm Tenwicks went bump. Seen the real one few times at Truckshows. Theres another ex Gallarchers does the truck shows with them Steelboys its a 6x2 . Supprised you haven
t done a CPS Daf you would have seen plenty of them running out of the ally works up your end.
Somebody said that Ramage warehouse had been burnt to the ground doesn`t seemm to have effected them still plenty of them running out of SCA prudhoe
Hi Eddy.
Do you make your own decals for the models… if so do you use the water transfer paper…and how successful is it? Any tips would be welcome. Cheers. Solly
Hello Solly most of mine are made by a mate of mine who also does a lot of modeling and I make him the occasional cab etc so it’s a nice arrangement. The only ones I tackle have to be fairly simple as I dont have software for special lettering etc. But when I do any I use Crafty Computer Paper and make extra sets so as I can put on two or three layers to stop bleed through of the base colour. Hope that helps Eddie.
It’s been that long since I put anything on here I had to delve through a lot o pages to find it.I hav’ny been doing a lot lately but I finished this one except for the decals they have still to go on, Its an Albion KL127 and it was restored by it’s original owners Montgomery the potatoe merchants in Kilmarnock but was sold to Maitlands Motors and it’s their colours that it’s in.It’s 1/25th scale or neerenuff. Eddie.
come on eddie,
more pics please!!
