Eddie stobarts widnes

Here we go again!
A driver asks a perfectly normal question about Stobarts and out comes the usual suspects slagging the company off,and normally its the people who’ve never worked here who know the most about them, because they have a “mate” who works here.
Bewick, you really have a problem with them dont you?,have you ever considered councilling perhaps to free your mind of this bile you keep coming out with??
God it must be eating away at you
Personally speaking,it can be owned by the biggest rogues in the world as long as my money is in the bank every 2 weeks, and for that i have never had any worries.

reeldeal:
With further regard to my previous post abt stobarts tesco in widnes.I took ady1 advice instead of going through the agency i applied straight to the company and then received a letter stating i had passed their inital vetting process and i was just waiting for a date for my assessment then i received a phone call today asking me to attend a exam driving assessment and a interview at the end of may!!!

I know this is cheeky is their anyone been there seen it and done it at stobarts.
if successful any chance of a general idea of wages plz. :grimacing:

well done reeldeal i hope you get the jb and like it
wages-im not going to go into meal allowances ,fuel bonuses etc as its been done hundreds of times
im a day shift driver not a tramper, last 2 wage slips were
6 daysx75.30 hrs=£755.86
5 daysx67.5 hrs=£727.66
difficult to know what youll earn as it depends what days, hours, start times etc,etc you work.again best of luck

And the others?

i dont think the others[or our depot at least] seem bothered about what they earn,as ive said before 99.9 % of conversation are about footie, fanny, getting ■■■■■■■■■■ other 0.1 % is about why there getting the ■■■■ runs and the blue eyed boys, brown nosers, bosses wet dreams are getting the cream of the runs

My point was that the others ain’t getting £9 an hour…and the lads working at Aveley on days/nights can’t eran the money you’re on about as the trucks are double shifted, unlike yours apparently?

You are right and wrong about Aveley mate! The shift lads on days/nights are not getting meal allowance
Or nights out and the newer drivers don’t get the fuel bonus either! But us Trampers do and there are some of us at Aveley!!

Yes, tramping at Aveley is the only way to pick up a decent take home!

common rail not been funny mate but theres no way you was on £9 a hour on monday to friday 0600 to 1800 shift

flat rate 0600-1800=7.75
meal allowance=1.00 per hour(appox)tax freeel
driver bonus=5.00 per day

i hav`nt worked it out exactly but that looks like about 9.00 per hour to me.

this is the lowest rate you can earn as work outside these hours pays more

if you was a new starter you wouldnt of got 7.75 any way as the new rate has only just kicked in so ya would of been on 7.20 with no drivers bonus

GOD!!! What does it matter whether it’s £9, £7.50 or £7.20? The op asked for an idea of wages, and he’s been given just that - people can only say what THEY get paid. If I start somewhere and the pay grade is lower than established drivers - so be it. Why do people have to argue whenever one of Stobarts drivers post anything?

Spot on mate - Couldn’t agree more!

no were double shifted, run 24/7, you havent got a set truck, you havent got a night shift driver opposite you,you just take what trucks there, which is why you often have to wait 2/3/4 hrs for a truck for you to use to come, obviously you then have to go out and do the same amount of work,so what should be a 10 hr day as youve got 10 hrs work turns into 13 hr day as youve sat in canteen for first 3 hrs.
the only difference in money at our depot is not p.h its what you earn at the end of the week, but a driver working 42.5 hrs[gar 50] is obviously going to earn a lot less than the driver who does 70/80 hrs p.w+o/time

this is true, however i do believe new starters will now get the driver bonus but at the old rate of £3.50 per day.
time served employees are on £9.00 per hour min

out of the 9 blokes i started with, all of them said it was the best job they ever.im not wasting my time on here nit picking about a few pence an hour, the lead question wanted to know the low down ive gave him my angle.i dont work there any more so i have nothing to gain by bigging them up,im telling it how i see it from an ex employees point of view.some people on here just seem to have an issue with esl, dont know the reason.......sacked.......booted out of a cushy job......wouldnt set them on i dont know but its silly so stop it

Wish to bloody hell ESL would hurry up and get their act together and get a depot opened up in Northern Ireland :exclamation: :exclamation: :unamused:
I wouldn’t mind giving them a go. :sunglasses:

I have got a VERY strong feeling that the Tesco distribution management in NI are just biding their time on ESL taking over the running of the two DC’s plus the transport end here.

It’s dead easy work!! Tramping even easier!! Some places like Unilever in Crumlin are a pain to get too!!
Hardest work I’ve done here in 4 years was to build up a trailer for Tesco loads! And haven’t done that in over 18 months! :grimacing: And now I’m a General Tramper!! Not ever likely too!!

Don’t count your chickens yet dessey!!,I’m a general tramped and had to build one up yesterday

I’m NOT sticking up for ESL here but all the knockers always seem to point out their
“average” hourly rate paid but nobody seems to point out the £13/day meal allowance which must be up there with one of the highest paid

£7.90 odd/hour would be considered half decent money here in NI compared to the likes of Montgomery/Woodsides/McBurney/Mulgrew/Sawyers/Baird etc. :unamused:

Before somebody says “it should be worked into the hourly rate” I’m nearly sure that this meal allowance would be classed as “tax exempt” (if working over 5miles from base) saving the driver 22%
Surely their nightout allowance is at the higher end too and they seem to be able to give you as many hours as you “want” to work :exclamation: :exclamation: :sunglasses:

jase:

Thanks Jase!! That’s one less for me to do man!! lol
Saying that trailer build up isn’t that difficult anyways!! I was doing them in the dark so almost blindfold!!
Big truck!! The night out money has gone up to £22.50 a night!! They don’t pay it if you park within 10 miles of your home base though!! And fuel bonus of £5.00 a shift is achievable if you Drive a Scania!! Down here in Aveley you also collect £25.00 a week London weighting!! Even when on Hols!!

dessy:

Not all roses then as to put up with the cost of living around London I would want a right bit more than £25/week :exclamation: :exclamation: :grimacing:

if u want to stick up for ESL then you stick up for them.■■■■ what anybody else thinks.there is not one person on here that can give a valid justification for all the bad mouthing that is aimed at ESL.it`s all down to envy or sower grapes if you ask me.
or most likley…lack of intelligence
