Eddie Stobarts Trucks And Trailers

Is her scanny an auto?

She said about putting it in manual drive.

Does it have a clutch a la old opticruise or not?

Our 60 plate scanny’s are still manual.

That guy sounded like a frigin nut job. I bet he is in the first in the depot and the last to leave, he has a bad dose of the green cancer :smiling_imp:

At the end, the narrator said ‘its’ time for the staff to hang up their uniforms and enjoy their xmas’, wonder if he did?

Is it me or did he seem do drive straight on at several roundabouts after saying wrong turning and getting stuck up a lane - sounds like film crew might have wanted exciting shot and it backfired hence the hissy fit and frank exchange of views!!

thats what i was thinking, he was on a roundabout when he said *weve took a wrong turning, well drive round the roundabout fool.

Oh crap…and there was little old me thinking ‘why the ■■■■ didn’t you swing it round the roundabout then if you’re going the wrong way’…shan’t bother now

If you look at Fiona’s truck after the tow truck pulled her out her lift axle is up. I’m assuming the tow truck guy told her to lift it up but pulled her out anyway to save embarrassment :grimacing:

Makes me glad that I drive coaches now - in the recent bad weather the customer either cancels or the office cancels the job, like the other week I was half way to a job when it got cancelled so only got a few hours work plus I wouldn’t have ended up in hospital that night

stress of it being canceled made you go into hospital?

No, I wouldnt have been at home early and walked into the caravan towbar injuring my knee

Why would the midlift be down if the trailer was empty?

Most of Eddies trucks based out of Newark are 4x2 units so maybe shes never had to play with a mid lift?

Biggest question must be why go from Newark to Liverpool surely they must of had a unit and trailer closer to Liverpool to do said job. What did Tinkler want to do about empty running last year wasnt it tax it or something?

I watched the programme and cringed at most of it   I’m a general driver for Stobarts and can confirm that we are not all the same!!!

I don’t know how the filmed drivers were picked for it, but I could pick far better drivers than those shown - real drivers.

No matter who you work for there will always be the glory boys and the Hamptons.

I read somewhere that if 10% of your staff are hamptons then you are ok…now if Stobarts use a similar equation then about 300 are Hamptons! Unfortunately…they used most of the Hamptons for the series.

It’s all about image for some people - now I agree that in most instances Stobarts are image first…I’m always clean and well presented - even polished boots. However…there comes a point when the driver takes over and dictates what is actually happening, whether camera rolling or not!!!

That is the point of general truck driver - but doesn’t make good telly viewing cus most of us do it all day every day!

27 tons of christmas tree’s & midlift up on motorway :open_mouth:

I saw that. Surely that must have been a ‘before’ shot, and the axle would have gone down automatically with all that weight on?

Would a load of xmas trees weigh 27t ?

what made me laugh was here we have a massive company 2 say the least and there they are walking round the yard at nite feeding chickens, i mean spreading salt!wouldnt you think they would purchase a gritter, lets face it they could buy a cheapy easy,i speak from experience as i work 4 company doing gritting and weve just renewed our fleet so them famous fodens uve all seen were sold off next 2 nowt!!

There’s another thread about this so i’ll post my comments in this one as well as the other one seems to be more about her “assets”.

Was I the only one willing her to raise the midlift, engage the difflok and put it in first and coast with no revs up that slip road where she was spinning the wheels and got stuck? I think she normally drives a 4x2 and this is probably the first patch of bad weather shes driven through in the 3 years shes been driving so can be excused a bit but you’d think Stobarts would send a memo out to the drivers with a few tips of how to cope and get the best out of the wagons in the snow and I bet a lot less would have got stuck. Hopefully some of the green brethren willl mention this to her. We all had to learn some time so i’m not knocking her but she could have got out of that situation with a bit of training. She is pretty though

Was funny when the loud fellow got stuck after missing his turn and threw a hissy fit at the camera crew

there is on our board a memo of how to drive in the snow/ice/winter,cant remember mislifts being mentionedi ignored it as it was written by the driver who got done for driving through 2 railway crossing on amber in a day :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

And have them sat about for 11 months of the year.
The grit team were prob just yard monkeys or warehouse lads getting abit of a bonus off the gaffer.
