the DSS was a good job until Appleton got hold of it and abused all the lads that were doing it,Appleton cud do no wrong in the eyes of middle management but they av the worst planners of the stobbie empire, yep Goole is struggling to fill the driving post at the moment so quite a few agency drivers there, changes are not far away believe me,there is going to be a major reorganise of the tesco job with 300 dedicated trucks known as the tesco fleet coming on board

Terry T!!! Everyone wants to work Mon to Fri and weekends at home but thats not how it is in this game! Unless you stay away from General Haulage or Logistics anyway :grimacing: I’d stay on the rigids if i had the chance all over again

I’m not averse to working some weekends or long hours but those tramping shifts are not for me, especially the split week one. Got to enjoy life too or the money becomes pointless.

Well said TerryT

So will Tescos drivers get a pay cut? Or are there high wages a myth?

My father knows a driver at Tesco Hams Hall. He says they’re dreading Stobbie taking over as they know the money is going to go down. Whether it actually will is another matter.

Mmmmmmmmm… Another blast from the past thread

yeah it just kinda seamlessly carried on, no one seemed to notice the near 13 month gap in posts :open_mouth:

They were advertising for class 1 drivers in Hoddesdon Herts and they quoted £40 - £45k for trampers.
I thought about applying but my job is fairly easy and im earning £36k on nights and home every day so didnt bother.
There website says no vacancies now though

Christ Shrek, that tramper must be doing some o/t to earn that or he’d had a few pints lol!!
Mo,i agree with you about Appleton, why do they think the whole world revolves around them?,some of them seem to be untouchable.
JD,your right about when about when your off shift your truck is out,we’re having problems at Cannock with agency drivers and the state their leaving trucks in,my bedclothes were covered in grease and their was more diesel on the outside of the fuel tank than in it!!
That advert in the sun was laughable, not going to use your truck when your off shift, yeah right!!!

In my opinion its not a bad job but it could be a whole lot better if only certain problems were addressed and most trampers know what they are.
