And I find the £43K a bit hard to believe!

I am a DSS driver which means I cover at various depots, and get a fully paid for van and payment for travelling…and even if I sold the van I wouldnt make 43K a year!

i reckon nearer 35k mark unless he was a night tramper who is doing every other weekend… i do mon to fri day tramping and average around £525 to £560 take home that with for nights running out of crick

i applied at stobarts 2 weeks ago, wondering how long it takes them to replie or get back to us,any ideas,do they phone or send letters,

oryt mate it takes a while my letter saying thay have got my aplication took about 3 week …all in all its taken from sending my aplication to getting my start date around the 8 weeks… i start monday

Is Tramping 5 nights out or 4 ?

At Crick they do Thu-Sat off Sun then Mon-Tue off Wed. Then Thu-Mon.

Which nights do you actually spend in the truck ?

thanx for replie, witch depot u starting at,i applied to crick on tramping, hope it goes well for u,

hi shrek from the odd lads i know tramping for stobarts they reckon on the weekend trampers they earn closer to 40k suppose to be an easy job. Must be easier than car transporters, Think they earn more than most rdc trampers and you get decent motor to go with it. good luck with it.

The questions you have to ask yourself with ES is, IF the pay is that good, and if the equipment is top notch, and IF they are so good to work for.

Why are they always wanting drivers?

Why do so many ex drivers hate them?

You would have thought in bad times like these they would be a waiting list.

If you fancy working for them give it a go.

£550-£650 a week take home is true, but you will be working Thurs-Mon for that money, and for £650 you will be working one of your rest days or on nights.I do Thurs-Mon and average about 64 hrs a week, they are decent to work for,no pressure or hassle, you are pretty much left to get on with it.

Answer"s to your question"s blunder man, there is a waiting list as long as your arm to get on stobbies, there are 3 girls at Crick depot that solely deal with all the applications, the reason why they always advertiseis because they are slowly trying to cut out agency drivers

Mmmmmmmmm… Another blast from the past thread

Can anyone answer this

Tramping on Days or Dayshifts are CRAP on Stobarts IMHO

I don’t think that shift is out of Crick!! I’m sure only in the Northern Depots

Tramping is 4 nights out of 5 (or 5 out of 6)

Nights in the Truck-Thurs Friday Saturday night then Monday and Tuesday nights then Thursday to Monday nights

Hope that helps Terry T mate :grimacing:

It did help, just wasn’t what I wanted to hear :grimacing: :astonished:

That really is a crappy shift. You’re literally working every day of the week on the split shift if you’re spending 5 nights out as you still have to drive the truck home in the morning.

I was considering doing the tramping when I get my C+E but I don’t think I could work every weekend every week. Wouldn’t be so bad if you got Saturday night and all Sunday off every other week but screw 5 nights out.

Sorry MO but you are wrong, if you walk past Goole with a HGV licence they are likely to drag you in they are that desperate.

Terry T!!! Everyone wants to work Mon to Fri and weekends at home but thats not how it is in this game! Unless you stay away from General Haulage or Logistics anyway :grimacing: I’d stay on the rigids if i had the chance all over again

I’m not averse to working some weekends or long hours but those tramping shifts are not for me, especially the split week one. Got to enjoy life too or the money becomes pointless.

Like you say, I may stick to Class 2 yet. I worked as a drivers mate at a company near me that does Class 2 tramping but it’s only Mon-Thu night and home every friday morning. £30k too.
