Eastern Europeans

mikey-t:
Never had a bad experience with a European but I always try and set off on the right foot, hand shake, greeting in there language and then continue in English and things work, I have faced more ignorance and displeasure whilst working amongst welsh, scots, Irish etc me being English

Agree with this.

How often do you see a well fit British lass doing warehouse work? :bulb:

You could be right…But why show favour to your own comrades, whilst treating the Brits less favourably? That in my book, is discrimination…Which I beleive is illegal in the workplace.

Maybe it is not discrimination on the race, but simply you are just some new guy, when the othe guys work there for ages. And they are just friends with the guys at the desk. I saw it 1000s times, regardless of nationality. Not fair, still, but nothing to do with nationality.

As for your original post - I am glad to see that you backed up a bit and admited, that your PREVIOUS experience shows that there are some good people among us as well… I still laugh when you say “from my experience” and you worked there 2 weeks only  I don’t defend the guys, it is possible that you just landed in a place full of muppets, I’ve been there before and I met my share of EE and British muppets as well. Just please do not use this unjust generalisation, as noone, regardless of naitonality, likes to be swept with the same brush as some idiots.

2 weeks is ample time to discover the way people and things work in any environment.

I have experience of employing people as I was a senior manager in a previous life, so know what it is I speak of, I am also a BAC Qualified counsellor, however I do not practice now, but the skills are with you for life. Also enables me to evaluate most situations, personally and culturally and of course professionally.

Yeah, making general statements based on someone’s nationality was an example of very proffessional attitude. I am glad that you are no longer employing people. It’s good that you have nothing to do any more with deciding about other people’s lifes with that attitude of yours.

I think you are blaming the wrong people again, the ones in goods in and dispatch are doing a job and have probably been through the same management training course as Easyjet staff.

Cant you start a thread about thick carrot crunchers who drive lorries in Lincolnshire?

In your post you say all east europeans, the title and your post does point to that, and also they are only good for land fill, either you would bury them or think they are rubbish. So in a broad stroke you imply a huge area of Europe is full of less then worthy, which is of course untrue. Having said that you told us of pervious east and central europeans who were marvellous to have worked with, so is the area you talk about part of this side of the world or still all of it?

I feel better qualified than you as I am British and live in Poland, so there. You can’t tar half of europe with the same brush cos you met a few bad 'uns, blimey.

Embrace them with the hospitality and warmth the UK is famous for, they got better food, better drink, loverly looking woman, you never know.

Yer right…I jacked it all in when you were no longer allowed to tell someone to do something, you had to ask them  Like many things in this pox ridden country, it has all gone to the dogs, just that the recednt influx of immigrants have made it worse.

Just because you are in the EU does not make you civilised, nor does it make you palatable, infact, quite the opposite.
I have had the displeasure of working amongst them for two weeks now, I have had enough…I am chucking the towell in.
My experience is that of rudeness, ignorance and low intelligence…I am qualified to comment and gave the benefit of the doubt to start with, but now…I realise they are just third world refugees, who do not fit into a civilised country such as the UK.

Just my experienced opinion after two weeks in Lincolnshire.

Fit for landfill, nothing more.

Thankyou.

I quite agree with this. But I would still agree with the statement if it as applied to people from western Europe or anywhere else for that matter. I can think of many Brits I’ve seen abroad who hold attitudes and behave in such ways that make me cringe when I realise that I share their nationality. There are good and bad people all over.

I guess these people referred to in the OP are over here working for crap money, and you tend to get a higher proportion of morons in these roles as few others will work for such rewards or in such conditions.

And remember, theyre here to fill the vast gap in the labour market we have in this country, too many jobs and not enough people. Oh hang on…

Being free to work anywhere around the EU for EU citizens has it’s pros and cons. However, I would argue that the host nations should be able to choose on a personal basis who is and isn’t allowed to come in, character references and criminal record check should be carried out before they’re given a passport stamp and NI number to allow them in and to work, an EU visa. With all the accessability of information in terms of IT nowadays, it shouldn’t be that difficult.

And limits in the amounts of low skilled workers allowed in when the going gets tough and jobs are scarce, should also be allowed.

What’s the point in a country with no borders?

You think telling someone to do something is good management practice?

Now who needs zb burying?

Quite clearly…I need burying.
I would also like to withdraw my comments about Eastern Europeans, it seems that I am totally in the wrong, they are all fine people, just like the horrible British people…I hate Brits with a passion, which is quite ironic really, as we are not allowed to be passionate about anything anymore, we have no back bone, we are all pale imitations of what were once a proud nation, but no more.
No wonder all the criminals from around the world come here for easy pickings :unamused:

I think, after careful deliberation, that I do not fit into this society as it is, so the best option it would seem for everybody, is for me to end my life…This is not a decision taken lightly, it has been decided after logical and emotional thought process.

byee…

Goodbye.

Next! :stuck_out_tongue:

Im sure that there are quite a few of the “older hands” on here who, when travelling throughout Europe and beyond in the 80`s, would have recieved some sort of mechanical breakdown help from some of the Eastern European drivers of the time.

Hungaro camion drivers always seemed to be willing to help out if they could and usually had quite a few tools etc with them. Most of them had quite a good knowledge of things mechanical and wernt afraid to offer help…more than could be said of some of the Brit drivers at the time!

If you were parked up somewhere and there were a few of the Eastern drivers about as well they would usually invite you to join them in a camion stew of sorts and share a bottle “hooch”!!

Please don’t do it from an over-bridge, it just causes needless delays to people trying to get on with their life. Thank you and good luck.

send the slimey [zb] back from where they came full stop.
