Eastern Europeans

send the slimey [zb] back from where they came full stop.
and give uk haulage a chance to recover and prosper once again until the above happens uk haulage as we knew it has gorn for ever and let me tell you how sad that makes me.

I well considered and concise response to this apparent problem the UK suffers from. Case closed…

Im sure that there are quite a few of the “older hands” on here who, when travelling throughout Europe and beyond in the 80`s, would have recieved some sort of mechanical breakdown help from some of the Eastern European drivers of the time.

Hungaro camion drivers always seemed to be willing to help out if they could and usually had quite a few tools etc with them. Most of them had quite a good knowledge of things mechanical and wernt afraid to offer help…more than could be said of some of the Brit drivers at the time!

If you were parked up somewhere and there were a few of the Eastern drivers about as well they would usually invite you to join them in a camion stew of sorts and share a bottle “hooch”!!

This is very true, but since capitalism has reached their part of the world a very different attitude has invaded their society. I remember being in the old DDR about 18months after the fall of Communism, I was parked in a brand new ARAL petrol station, it had rows of shelves filled with the usual 24hr garage/corner shop stuff, outside were a group of 20 somethings with Golf GTIs, they all had a face like a smacked arse, yet 18months previously they would’ve been still a few years down the waiting list for a Trabant, they would only have dreamed of being able to buy a Mars Bar and a Ginsters type Pasty, in the same situation my smile would be so big that the top of my head would nearly fall off.

Fast forward to present times, the Eastern European driver is now a very different creature to their colleagues of a few years ago.

As I said in my first post, I get remarks about my politeness from this lot over here, it’s the way I was brought up, but many Eastern Europeans never had SFA to be thankful for, so maybe it’s that (although that doesn’t excuse the Canadians/Americans) I think it’s just that we (different races) do things differently, who’s right or wrong depends on whose standards you apply to judge them.

Oh and BTW, I left Britain to get away from Brits, not Poles

Aint that the truth!
I despise the British for allowing themselves to be walked over by their ruling classes, the immigrants and anyone else who wants to walk over them :imp:
Trying to uphold values, morals and above all, integrity is a hard job to do…It is ‘everyman for himself’ these days, from every culture that has invaded these shores…And to be honest, it does get me down, it affects me, it demoralises me, this is because I care about my country and the people that live in it, I may be old fashioned, but I like the way that I am and would fight to the last to preserve some dignity, some moral fibre…Anyway, I am late in taking my own life, so must rush…

Come to Poland att, you can get all that stuff here, values, morals, its all here, respect from everyone, even kids do the respect thing, if you still feel like ending it all a vast choice of ways to meet your maker are available from normal road travel. I left the UK for several of the reasons you mention.

I;m not an Easter-European,nor a western European
I am a Middle European

Cant say that I can share your experiences, with the company I am working for now I started the same day as a guy from Slovakia, can honestly say that I dont think I have ever met a more polite, friendly and helpful driver. Every time you meet him he will offer a handshake as a greeting, speaks fluent English and is not afraid to ask if I cannot understand something due to the local lingo.

When the Brynglas tunnel were closed and traffic was backed up both directions for hours, he came down to my truck with a cold drink and food, I had my own but he always offers and shares whenever you see him.

Can only wish that more British drivers were like him, fair enough some Europeans may be not to everyones liking but the British can be just the same at times, lets not be too rash and jump on the bandwagon of being anti-European.

Plus, most of the Eastern European girls I have met are proper fit

The old Severn bridge seems popular and quite effective, They’re still looking for Richie Edwards and he jumped 16 years ago! could you please put it off until the weekend when I will be on rest days, as I use it for work. Thanks.

As a rule I find the majority of EE’s pleasant polite and competent, where the opposite often but not always applies to their British counterparts. And the added bonus of the cleaners in my place looking like bond girls rather than Nora Batty. As with a lot of the problems in 21’st century Britain It’s always somebody else’s fault, the blame culture where everyone looks for someone else to fix it for them instead of doing it for themselves, lazy bigoted racist, xenophobic layabouts, is how we are perceived by the rest of Europe.

I’m from Middle Earth.

the fact remains, that a mass influx of cheap foreign labour is no good for the native workforce…it`s so obvious ffs

Or that bad practice by our dear Government has made our country so expensive to live in…

Or that the British have an entitlement mentality…

After all, the EE’s manage to come to Britain, have a better standard of living and yet still manage to send money back to their home country :bulb:

I always had good colleges,wherever i worked.
but it changed when i worked for Agency,as company drivers do as only they are drivers and the Agency are Slaves.
Well, not everyone, but the one who do well you don’t recognizes as Pain in the @. they are some kind of friends, but, when you think on that situation you remember the one who treat you bad.
just dont say brits are not friendly. Some of them that Polite that i have problem to cope with it.
well,OK,then are the one who teach you on everything, and report you if you dont listen.
Remember a DC in Southampton where a Driver tryed to tell me switching the working light behind the cab off,i don’t do before im at the Gate. Its from the Time when gatehouse checked Trailer Number and service week.
now,he talkes to me,and at end he ask if i understand.
I don’t agree,i replied.
Why,he asked.
I explain, that i like Red Apples more then the Green,as they are more sweet.
So he went to Transport Office to complain against me.

Just because you are in the EU does not make you civilised, nor does it make you palatable, infact, quite the opposite.
I have had the displeasure of working amongst them for two weeks now, I have had enough…I am chucking the towell in.
My experience is that of rudeness, ignorance and low intelligence…I am qualified to comment and gave the benefit of the doubt to start with, but now…I realise they are just third world refugees, who do not fit into a civilised country such as the UK.

Just my experienced opinion after two weeks in Lincolnshire.

Fit for landfill, nothing more.

Thankyou.
