Does any one qualify for early start money on here please, what are you allowed if anything, and what is the criteria please, also is the money taxable.
Cheers

If we start before 5am get just under £15, which is taxed
Time and a quarter if we are ASKED to come in early, but if you pitch up early because you want to, then no increase in money. And it’s taxed.

The nightshift rate runs between 20:00-06:00 so if you start at say 4am, you get two hours on the nightshift rate
We qualify for a shift allowance of £18.75 if we finish work after 22:00 or start before 04:00.
One payment per day if applicable.
We get an extra £10 if our run is planned to start before 4am
£2.00 an hour extra on hours between 6pm - 6am. Usual start time is 4am.
We don’t get an early start bonus as such. It just gets classed as overtime which is paid at time and a half.
An extra £2 from 6pm-6am. I work nights so it can add up to a fair bit, especially if I do a lot of hours.
We get £10 if we have to start before 5am. It is taxed. It never used to be taxed but the boss got into trouble with the taxman who say as it is not an expense then it has to be taxed. It is classed as part of earnings not expenses.
We get £10 if we start before 4, goes on payslip as a bonus so is not taxed. I’d argue that any time I take a 9 off should be classed as an early start but I’d be wasting my breath!
Time and half before 4am
I cant belive people start at 4 am i can just about get up for 6
Dont think many other industries would ask employees to start so early
Early than 4am overtime after our first 8 hrs is paid at double time

Many businesses in other industries want their deliveries first thing though!
I must be the only one on here that gets Sweet FA for starting early, just normal rate, then they expect us to do collections in the afternoon along with the late starters, so we end up queuing to get unloaded in the afternoon.
Just to add, I don’t do many very early starts & if I do, I certainly don’t Pee about in the afternoon waiting to get unloaded.
No you’re not alone martinviking, we get nothing for starting early. So, I won’t start before 5.45am (15 mind for checks). 6 is early enough to get round the m60.
4 am? That’s a lie in. My average start is 3 am but get extra £2 an hour up to 6 am

Extra £2 between 6pm and 6am works out to a fair bit when out first runs go out at 00.45am and that’s classed as days lol bugger that for a game
We don’t get paid any extra for early starts, but tbh I only get a start time for a Monday and the t/o generally fit that into a drivers preferences, so my start time tomorrow is 8am, the rest of the week it’s up to me to decide what time I start. I generally look at what my next day’s work is and then start as late as I possibly can in order to do it.
