Dutch marques: various

Who remembers GI-HO, GTS, Jumbo, RAM, and other marques not earlier mentioned here?

Feel free to input the more known like FTF, GINAF, …

Here to start and give some food for thought…GTS and Jumbo!

GTS stands for J. Groenewold Trucks Stadskanaal and this 12ton
creation out of Henschel cab and DAF-engine is from 1972.

Jumbo origins from around 1926 and was founded by Van der Meulen
who also ran some Ford-garages and applied quite some Ford-components
in their Jumbo-truck. Production of the lorries ended begin '50s. They still
exist with trailers and merged some years ago with Groenewegen to form
a strong supplier of trailers from Helmond.

I reckon FTF should have a thread of its own, A-J. What do you think? I remember in the old days, some Brit drivers used to think they were Dutch ERFs because of their Motor Panels cabs! Robert

Robert, I will consider this suggestion on FTF however so much is already gathered/captured on
the FTF-website ftftrucks.com with a good register and a lot of pictures, even books are
available of both Floor Truck Fabriek and Floor Trailer Fabriek.

For now another stakeholder of the Dutch market, also very niche: Terberg

No probs. If you decide not to start a new thread, I’ll just pop a few FTFs on this one! Robert

Feel free! A-J

Earlier FTF models used the Motor Panels cab. Here is an absolutely classic picture of one that has clearly been on Holland-Greece work - it even has a roof-mounted aircon unit. They had 13-speed Fuller 'boxes. Robert

Here are some more examples of the earlier Motor Panels cabbed FTFs. Robert

Then ta-dah! The Motor Panels mark 5 cab was introduced! Robert

FTF started out in the early '50s making trailers under the name of Floor (of Wijchen, NL). Then it began importing and assembling Mack trucks in '52. By '66 it was building its own trucks incorporating a number of Mack components. Later models used Detroits with Fuller 'boxes. FTF tended to specialise in heavy-duty units. Please feel free to add information! Robert

Well done Robert and many thanks for your start here!!!

Another, more unknown marque is RAM which stand for R.A. Mimiasie (ex-Indonesia?) of Rotterdam
Origin 1967 to 1982 with most MAN, ZF, Rockwell, DAF and Saviem components. Respectfully accepted
in the quite spectacular world of tippers with numerous system like Ruizeveld, NETAM, EDBRO etc…

RAM, Raba, Roman, MAN, Berliet, Saviem, OAF, straight off the top of my head, used that ‘F8’ cab; and I know there were others - I wonder how many! Robert

RHV? Vehicles? From desert to ice?

We Dutch we buy and apply everything with extra value!

Terberg with Volvo-components

That relationship with Volvo (close to Benschop was Volvo Beesd) lasted for long

Hey ERF, Marques as RAM and so on made they own chassis because most of this marques started with
surplus REO’s after '52 ■■?

Bye Eric,

Eric, as a matter of fact RAM started very late…but apparently he did see many advantages of the ex-army surplus
and the benefits of assembling when a lot of components were free to buy…same with MOL I guess…

Hey, Yes MOL did and think some other, but mostly of the REO’s were used here as they were in army state
and only with a diesel in. And thereafter it was all MB2620/23/24 and second hand MAN’s and of course some stayed with Amercans as White or Mack.

Eric,
