Franglais:
If a bin is overflowing, due to cuts in collections etc, then what happens? Rubbish is left beside it,
I saw two mattresses and the remnants of a chest of drawers beside a rubbish bin on a busy local shopping street not so long ago. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
If its not cleared away, whats the odds itll be joined by a fridge by tomorrow?
Frightening!
saw a couple last week going thru bins i 1st thought youre surely not after food ? but turns out they were after stuff like old wrappings to make collages with to sell on ebay/etsy .
When you have given all our money to the bankers, so they can spend time in nice tidy, sunny and more hospitable places, you have little left to improve our lot.
If you don`t believe me just look up quantative easing and understand what it really means…Money is not grown on trees and all of ours was given to the bankers so that they might preserve their lifestyles…In the meantime we, the populace have had to endure hardships in every way and we have died in larger numbers than we would have otherwise, it is a national disgrace, not to mention scandal.
But you all just keep on making them money whilst all your essential services keep on crumbling around you.
AND ALL BECAUSE WE HAVE NO BACKBONE…Rather sad is it not?

Isn`t it also strange that many of us believe “you get what you pay for”, then vote for lower taxes, and are then amazed when services are cut?
Anybody cared to look at tax levels in the Scandinavian countries, and at how content their populations seem to be?
Try then looking at the falling tax levels in the UK, and wonder whether we are all happier now than before the…say…`70s?

We all know the correct answer, but to increase Tax doesn’t win votes, that’s why we have council tax, green leveys, congestion charging, indirect taxation doesn’t affect politicians, Just work out how much direct tax you would be paying if all the local taxes were removed…

And isnt progressive taxation, whereby the richest pay the most, the best option? But youre quite right, too many ordinary people are fooled by promises of lower income tax, when they really loose overall rather than gain.
All councils in the UK have had their funding from central Govt. cut by 98%…Yes, 98%…So not only do you have to question where the 98% has gone(we know it went to the bankers) but it is the reason for your fines issued by local authorities, littering, parking and a vast array of other fines that the local authorities could get on the statute…The local authorities were initially evolved to serve, help and assist us in our live, now they are used to penalise us and raise the revenue lost from central Govt.
This is why the roads are in such a mess and social services and everything else, because as we pay more tax, we get less in services and actually pay more in fines.
I used to be on our local council and the conversation amongst the councillors was mainly……“when do you think the people are going to suss out what is happening”…25% of all council tax goes on the pensions of the councillors and the local authority employees who have retired…The pot has been getting smaller and the tax has been increased…Yet the sums just do not add up…
Car ownership has increased by 10 million over the last 12 years…Where has all that extra revenue gone?
Just sit down and do some figures, some research and look at the sums involved, they are vast and we are seeing more and more cuts as we contribute so much more than we ever were…Where is the money?

As ever, there are many different ways to measure many different things.
If we look at the GDP or the GDP per capita of the UK, we might see a country doing OK?
Do we as ordinary citizens “feel” that is so? Look at the GINI index and a somewhat different picture may emerge.
When we are told that “a country will do well”, does that mean that all of it`s inhabitants will do well?

Some Prisoners should get a sentence, not a time but based on the amount of rubbish they can collect. Imagine being sentenced to 10 tons of litter!
It is skip and bin trucks that cause most of the roadside litter. I personally cant remember the last time I saw someone throw anything bigger than a ■■■ out of a car. I do see a lot of shoes for some reason and never a pair!
Great idea. If I was in Chokey, I’d rather be out picking up litter all day than locked up most of the time. Obviously only for low risk prisoners. The more you pick up, the less time you serve.

What a sensible idea, but that’s the problem - it is sensible, so it will never happen!

Somewhere along the A1 N/B between Stamford and Grantham there’s a sailing dinghy dumped in the lay-by and close to it I assume is the trailer it came on.
I doubt that the floods the other month touched that neck of the woods
Haha saw that happen was bloody fun!
The trailer was as rusty as hell and simply collapsed, boat then skidded along on the fins!
Thought it was going to cross over but luckily it didn’t[emoji120]
Daren’t throw a ■■■ out of a car round our way , bloke did just that sat in traffic in town and a " concerned citizen " took a photo and sent it to the council . He elected to go to court and ended up being fined £ 400 . Anything to pay the ceo of the council £ 290 a year wages . Also , elected councillors can now claim expenses , nice little earner for doing nowt .
All. Tips (recycling centres) in greater Manchester. Are now fitted with anpr.
As it stands if you can fit under the 6ft barrier it’s fine.
But later this month anyone who enters in a pickup/small van will be limited to 1 trip a month.
Details recorded on anpr cctv linked to all sites across greater Manchester.
Any van /pickup trailere entering more will be issued a fine .
If you want to visit it more you need to apply and pay for a trade waste permit
. And then also pay again based on weight and type of rubbish you dispose of.
Also anyone who is deemed to be visiting the site to often In a private car will also be prosecuted.
Doesn’t help when suez have just taken on the contract for the council’s rubbish.
And looks like there after making as much money as possible from it.
.
So your a local gardner 1 man outfit your doing the right thing in your little van.
But now you going to be punished and forces to pay.
Which in turn.will result in more flytiping. And you can bet your life suez won’t be picking up the clean up costs.
When will people realise make it free to.tip rubbish and fly tipping will greatly reduce. Saving on the clean up costs.
After all we pay our council tax for it

Fair comment.
It shouldn’t be like that, but in the real world, that’ll happen.
Better that we all pay a little more up front, to keep everywhere clean, for our our benefits.

A sensible…
Logical and workable solution to the problem.
It hasn’t gotta snowballs chance in hell all the time there’s money and contracts involved.

All about money.
As said Suez have recently taken on the contract for greater Manchesters waste.
And had fella from Suez on radio this morning.
And he said it’s costing us £5mill a year with people illegal dumping waste at our sites.
But in reality he meant we can make £5mill a year by charging people.

What really…
Really really grinds my gears about all this. The guys who are at the top of this mess of contracts, kick- backs and corruption, already drive a 7 series/S500/Bentley Continental or are chauffeured. The wife/gf/bf drives a Range Rover to the shops. They already own several properties here and abroad. They already don’t need to work ever again.
A simple change to the law would reduce a lot of litter, in Germany you are responsible for the cleanliness of the frontage of your property out as far as the kerb so any pavement in front of your house/premises is your responsibility to keep clear of rubbish and the hedges cut back to keep the path clear. Seems that in the UK everything is always someone else’s problem and not my responsibility.
A few years back, the Daily Flail was carrying stories saying people who cleared snow from the footpath in front of their house were warned by the council that they could be sued if ice formed and someone fell.
It might have been made up…about 50% of the Flail always has been.

That is true I can tell you that.
My sister used to run a pub . Years ago was snowing n iccy.
So the both of us went out cleared the car park of snow .
That day the man from thwaites brewery called round and he went mad.
Basically he said because you’ve cleared the snow and ice…if someone falls /slips then can make a claim on you. As it’s not been cleared in accordance with certain rules and regulations.
If it snows and icy leave it .then if anyway falls makes a claim . It’s classed as an act of God. Or worst case the council is at fault…
And won’t be down to you.
Unbeilvable you try to do the right thing yet you can’t
