Dustbin Britain

the councils could always do what dunfries ans galloway council do regarding litter bins in the laybys on the 75 when they fill up too quickly and some rubbish is strewn about.
their answer to that problem is to just remove the bin entirely.
im quite happy to lob anything out the window on that particular road for no other reason that its anti truck police and enforcement issues.
on a plus side,it keeps the binnys in a job for life.

In what used to be our beautiful valley in Wales, our main tourist route is a disgrace. Rubbish strewn along both sides of the road, which increases every Monday afternoon. Why Mondays? Read on.
No, not from the MacDonalds customers who chuck their rubbish out as they finish their meal, although that does contribute to the mess.
The trouble is our recycling lorries. They finish their collections in Blaenavon, then drive like fury down the valley to the tip, as the job is “job and knock”. I’ve got no problem with that, but they leave the side flaps open on the lorries, so lots of the stuff they’ve just collected ends up on the verge and in the trees!
And of course, the cash-strapped council cannot afford to pick it up again, so every week it gets worse and worse. Quite what our thousands of tourist visitors think of us!
The OP’s mate was right; our country is a bin! :imp:

Nothing a stiffly worded letter wouldn’t sort.

Who really gives a ■■■■ you pay your taxes its up to the people who are responsible to collect it and provide enough bins where you can dispose of it, no bin just ■■■■ it on the street simple, the problem is they want you to take responsibility ■■■■ that if i pay my taxes its there responsible to provide a place to put it, enough of this kind of ■■■■ where is the money going thats suppose to provide the service

Alternatively…

Just keep all yer trash in the cab until you reach a bin where you can drop it off.

Why is that so difficult?

Its not for what i pay my taxes for i pay them to provide, they will never condition me to there ways if it ain’t there just drop it

Too many toe rags who just don’t have any personal standards.

Saw a bloke on his bicycle on the A38 who was stopped on the grass verge picking up other people’s litter. Wondered WTF he was doing at first, drop in the ocean I thought as I drove past as the verge is choc full of litter all the way along but fair play to him.

You even see that people have dropped McDonald’s bags on the floor at Bassett’s Pole when there is a bin like ten feet away. [emoji849]

WOW!.. :open_mouth:

I don’t how to respond to that.

Talking to a German driver in Crewe truck stop he said that the service areas and roads in his country started to fill with rubbish and human waste as the east European traffic increased along with the proliferation of fast food outlets .
I used to live just off the sea front in my town and the rubbish on the streets rises with the days when the crowds are out and about , it’s all fast food , sweets and drinks wrappers or containers.
We also had a problem with motor homes parking along the sea front and filling the litter bins up overnight with basic houshold waste, including nappies and cardboard boxes.
We also have a major problem with gulls and foxes destroying black bags when foraging for food .
The fox population has rocketed over the past 20 years in my local area as they have no predators to cull them these days .

So how come all the roadsides are virtually litter free in Poland and the Baltics whilst the roadsides in the UK are full of rubbish?

oh, hold on I get you, they keep all the rubbish in their lorries so that they can reach Germany or the UK to dispose of it. Makes sense.

I also mentioned that it was also the explosion of take away fast food and coffee .
Prior to that we all stopped and sat to consume whatever we bought.

Don’t you care about environment you live in? They will use your taxes to clean your ■■■■, instead of spending them to build some playgrounds for kids, plant some trees, or do something else good…

Some Prisoners should get a sentence, not a time but based on the amount of rubbish they can collect. Imagine being sentenced to 10 tons of litter!
It is skip and bin trucks that cause most of the roadside litter. I personally cant remember the last time I saw someone throw anything bigger than a ■■■ out of a car. I do see a lot of shoes for some reason and never a pair!

You can thank his sort for all the nice little on road parking areas getting the yellow line treatment.

Between 10 and 15 years ago I drove along the A14 Huntingdon to M6 on a Christmas Day early afternoon. Being the day it was there was no one parked up in the lay-bys and the sight then of all the rubbish was an eye opener.

There is the “vicious circle” effect.
If a bin is overflowing, due to cuts in collections etc, then what happens? Rubbish is left beside it, then around it, then all around.
In a clean environment, few would be the first to drop litter, but if there is rubbish already dropped, then a little more won`t make a difference.
Seeming small cuts in cleansing budgets have a spiraling effect.

If you travel around Europe you soon realize that their approach to rubbish bins along major routes is rather different to ours .
We use things with the capacity of a black bag that are full in a matter of hours at busy locations . These things are an afterthought and an accessory.
In Europe the top of the bin may be relatively small but the receptacle for the rubbish is huge in comparison and is hidden underground. Their capacity is measured in hundreds of KGs . They are part of the planning and design of an area unlike here where it is an after thought .
They are even placed where the collection vehicle doesn’t bring the traffic to a standstill when they are being employed.
Sadly we have lost pride in our areas and countryside in this country.
The Japanese have shown the rest of the world the way at large social events recently with their crowds cleaning stadiums after events . This starts in schools in Japan where the children clean the whole school every day .

I saw two mattresses and the remnants of a chest of drawers beside a rubbish bin on a busy local shopping street not so long ago. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
