Ok, I’ll be the first, have to admit dropped an empty trailer on a W&D years ago and forgot to wind leg down, luckily it didn’t have far to drop so no damage done and easy to wind back up as it was empty, lesson learned.

i take it you mean you dropped the trailer on its knees ?

well you will be a popular bloke in work for a while

i can remember about 15 years ago, we were sent to our main depot to collect a fleet of brand new Volvos

we were going to be trained how to drive them fuel efficiently so they had reps from volvo going to take us out there was about 15 of us, they had a big photo shoot as well with the head of the company being present and all the big wigs all pleased to show off there new trucks for the company etc

even us drivers had to stand outside the new trucks for a photo all with happy smiling faces bolox

anyway we had to hitch up to trailers for the training and one of the lads dropped his trailer to its knees right in front of all the big wigs, i can remember the guy protesting he was inocent as he heard the click as it locked and how he franticaly tried to wind the legs on slow speed to get it rasied again

it was one of the best laughs i had in years i mean there is a time and a place to make a ■■■■ up but that poor guy did it in style

Yes lucky for me to. Was a small bay shunt so didn’t have the legs all the way in and empty trailer.

never (ish) in 25 + yrs :grimacing:

but i did ar5e end my wagon and drag trailer in morocco, factory wanted me to drop the trailer, so i did and forgot to put my rear legs down and the trailer sat up like a like puppy wanting food lol :unamused:  25 moroccains on the drawbar to get it back down so i could put the legs down :grimacing:

ye si and probably another 50 trying to get thru the roof

once when I first started years ago working for federal express, had to get two forkies either side to lift it so I could wind the legs down,as the OP says lesson learnt

Thats the way to do it. In the UK though it would need coned off, surrounded with floresent tape and have signs saying “danger” everywhere. A risk assesment would need to be done, then redone to be sure. It would then need signed off by the company manager. A team of specialist lifters would need brought in and the yard would need to be closed while the 5 minute job took 6 hours. After the trailer was “righted”,the concrete would need to be checked for danger by specialist concrete companies.
Probably

If you’re going to do it, do it properly. :stuck_out_tongue:

I did it once with a Ford Cargo, 5th wheel pin never locked had to go round and push it in, this day backed under trailor and as I got out of cab to push pin in some one started talking to me, on to cat walk all leads on, wind legs up brake off back in to cab and down it went, so now never talk to anyone until all done

Done it once years ago when I worked at Lynx. Trailers got parked so close together that you normally had to wind the legs down before you backed into the space. This once there was enough space so that I didn’t need to wind the legs down first. Parked in the space, suzies disconnected, pin pulled, followed by an almighty bang when the trailer hit the deck as I pulled out.[emoji15] [emoji15] [emoji15]

Never dropped one on its knees but I will admit to pushing on the red line whilst on the catwalk after forgetting to put the handbrake on. Suffered terminal brain fade too, so instead of simply pulling the red line off I spent about 50 feet as a sideways passenger passing through the yard before I finally jumped off and hit the brake pedal with my hand! What a pollock.

Aptly named company

That looks more like overloading. Seen that at Salvesens, 12t up against the headboard :astonished: :astonished:

It used to happen regularly with the old Scammell couplings, if you didn’t have the trailer brake on and your foot hard on the foot brake when you pulled the leaver to uncouple it would shoot you out like a bullet, well it was more like trying to launch into space, and after everybody had stopped laughing, there were no winding handle on them things it was a crane, or jacks to get it up ( fork trucks being few and far between) happy days.

Ive dropped a trailer. Like a lot of honest mistakes, one usually learns from it and moves on. Mistakes are what we all learn best from. The things to keep in mind are that theres a whole world of ■■■■ ups out there, and to beware of the driver whos never made a mistake. Hes either lying, or done bugger all.

Or he is a ticking timebomb about to do the biggest mistake an rdc waiting room is ever heard of.

lol

Iv came close.
I was on the cat walk when it started rolling.
Managed to pull the red line before it rolled of the pin

Lucky escape
