Sounds like there is a bitmore to it, as she she still had an interior mirror, so it seems what they are saying is that if you have a car where the mirrors fold in when you and then pack up you have to get the car recovered, what a load of horlicks.
On most cars i belive you can still force the mirros open manually, and i certainly don’t think i would be driving on a motorway with them folded in
I think allot of this wouuld have been to do wtih her attitude, The police stop someone witch a borken mirror who says it just got boroken i was driving very carefully and doing shoulder checks before changing lane etc and i plan to have it fixed ASAP or they pull a driver with them folded in who dismisses the problem and says i never chek my mirros anyway so it doesnt make any diffrence
Witch one would you want off the road
the fact that she cant be botherd to fold the mirros out or press the button, really shows a compleat disregard for road saftey
I think that the plod have been very hard on her or her driving was atrocious and they had to do something .I regularly see a mini bus with no glass in its near side mirror, been like that for months. When I started driving exterior mirrors were an optional extra.
No place for people who drive like that on the roads, all the poor little thing comments are very short sighted, far too many people are allowed to drive on the roads with very limited skills, it should be a 100 times harder to get a driving licence, whatever class it may be, people should, in an ideal world, know how to drive properly before they venture out on their own, not just pass a minimum standard and then pick it up as they go along, possibly causing death and destruction along the way
So she loses her job, hey ho, she could’ve easily wiped out a motorbike putting them out of work or worse, or caused a chain reaction crash that ruined the lives of many, she didn’t, but that was through luck, not judgement, she clearly does not deserve the privilege of the freedom that car ownership can bring…unless she’s got a decent job that pays the mortgage and uses her car to pop down to Ann Summers for a bit of tackle before she picks up her hard working man from the pub before cooking his tea and then performs a little dance in her new gear from AS before giving him a ■■■■ good seeing too, then I think it’s a travesty and intimidation by the Police
You say it is a 58 plate fiesta, so should still just be in warranty depending time of year it was brought, wind down the window and push mirror out they have manual over ride on them my old BMW did anyway … no excuses hope she loses the licence menace to the road and if Mad.
Needs to re take test obviously not a competent driver!!
My car has electric folding mirrors, and you can only fold them in under a certain speed (I think it’s something like 15mph). If you start driving with them folded in, as soon as you go over that speed they will unfold automatically. I’m surprised the Fiesta doesn’t do the same.
They should make it a requirement of the type approval for any electric folding/retracting mirrors that they MUST automatically unfold/deploy over a certain speed.
I’m pretty sure that electric folding mirrors are not an option on a Fiesta. They would have been manually folded in, possibly by some prankster. (Where was Jeremy Clarkson?)

I thought that too Santa, but it seems we’re both behind the times:
Look what i saw today, was an old coffin dodger, he was doing 30 in a 60, 20 in a 40 and 10 in a 30 lol. Aint it great we have to share the road with these folks?
MADBAZ:
Does anyone know if exceptional hardship can apply for new drivers?
Don’t think so as once the points are awarded the licence is revoked by the DVLA automatically. Hardship is for when the court has the discretion on whether to apply a ban.
MADBAZ:
Not sure about the standard of her driving at the time but she’s a bloody loon
This bit does it for me Baz, she needs bringing back down to earth. Thats why there are so many new drivers killed in their first couple of years these days. Pass a poxy car test and think they can drive like Lewis Hamilton. My boy will just be starting all this soon as he’s 17 this May. Il be laying the law down, first instance of driving like a tool and he’l be walking.
Instill into him that he should never be braking whilst turning the steering wheel for a bend. The braking should be finished before the bend. This is where/why so many young lads finish up in a field.
She passed on the 2nd attempt.
The car defo has a button for the mirrors, I’m not sure if they’re supposed to un/flod automatically, I would have thought they should unfold as soon as the ign is turned on, I’ll try and have a look if she’ll let me.
I have offered to take her out in the past , for some extra lessons, but she never finds the time nor seemed keen on the idea that she actually needs extra tuition, maybe she’s frightened of what deeds us truckers get up to with lone females. The attitude of “I’ve passed a test so I must be a good driver” is very much at the forefront of her thinking, even though I
try and tell her I’ve passed 3 tests and I’m still learning and passing tests only infers that you can make safe progress. Anyhow I’m leaving her to her own devices, if she can’t take criticism from several peeps and try to rectify it then I think she is better off on the bus.
As a new driver with 3 points to begin with a FPN would get her banned anyway…yes the Fiesta has had powered mirrors in certain models a while now…
I live in Huddersfield. Anyone that drives all the way to Leeds (some 20 miles or so on one of the busiest sections of motorway in the country) without noticing their mirrors are folded in is in fact, an absolute utter menace on the roads and needs a sharp lesson in how to drive safely…definitely a ban and re-test called for here -especially as she already had three points…
